It tells you that priests who entered seminaries after the 2nd Vatican council (1962-65) but before the avalanche of "the cruel documents that are incompetent to deal with the issue of homosexual persons" starting with Persona Humana (1975) and intensifying in 1990's (the list is in the article), -- were often gay.

No it doesn't. If anything, the majority of clerical sex abuse cases have been been pre-VCII priests. The John Jay report states that abuse cases peaked in 1970, too soon after Vatican II for a large percentage of priests to have been ordained under its reforms. The majority of accused priests were ordained between 1950-1979 (68%) while those ordained before 1950 accounted for 21% of the accused. 62% of the accused priests were born before 1940, so were raised in the pre-Vatican II church and likely ordained or under vows prior to 1965.

I stand corrected then, on that. My point was simply that the abuse belongs to history that is distant by now, contrary to the Protestant superstition about the Holy Church not being capable of internal reform.

Abuse instances peaked in 1978-81 or so according to the John Jay report. The instances of abuse rose steeply through the sexual revolution in the early 60s and fell just as fast after the late 70s peak.

The terrible level of abuse solved itself, no thanks to any discipline bishops or the Pope did as far as I can tell. It seems like it was simply a matter of post-sexual revolution gay men not becoming priests, and older abusing priests getting old and dying and not being replaced. Why become priests when the greater culture accepts it and you don’t have to hide anything? I bet there are way fewer gay priests now, at least in the civilized West, than in 1950. And I bet gay priests were much likelier to abuse after the sexual revolution.
