Kirsten Powers awakens to the beauty and depth and riches of the Catholic faith

Just under two years ago, Msgr. Charles Pope wrote in part of Kirsten Powers’ conversion to evangelical Christianity:

The other day I read a beautiful conversion story, a witness story of a woman I have long admired, Kirsten Powers. She is a Fox News Commentator. And while I do not always agree with her political perspectives, she is a solid journalist, she gives fair consideration to all issues, and is, to my mind, a very classy lady.

He went on to chronicle and respond to Ms. Powers testimony, one describing her embrace of an Evangelical Presbyterian Church and the struggles and challenges that followed.

But it’s the following words that caught my eye in Msgr. Pope’s piece:

I pray that Kirsten Powers will grow strong in faith and deep in conviction that Jesus is Lord and the KirstenPowerslover of her soul.

“But Father, but Father….!” I hear some of you saying, “She did not become Catholic! How can we praise this!?” Well, all I know is that we are all on a journey. And the Lord has surely led some of the best Catholics through the Evangelical denominations ultimately to the Catholic Church. And I will add that their time there (in the Evangelical denominations) was not a detour or wasted. In fact some of the greatest converts to the Catholic Church bring many gifts from their time as Evangelicals: Love for Jesus, the understanding of a personal and intimate walk with the Lord, a love for Scripture, and a zeal for souls.

At a personal level I would love for Ms. Powers to one day find herself in full union with the Catholic Church. For now I am joyful she found Jesus and I trust Jesus to lead her.

Well Msgr. Pope, that one day has apparently arrived:

.@KirstenPowers had big news on #TheFive: "Tomorrow night at 7 o'clock, I'm becoming Catholic!" 3:01 PM - 9 Oct 2015

Welcome Ms. Powers to the faith that challenges yet enriches, the faith that confounds yet satisfies, the faith that is hated by many and loved deeply by so many more.

May God use you ma’am to bring others to His embrace.

Amen.

PS: Is she leaving the Demoncrat Party? If not, why bother to convert to Catholicism. A devout Catholic can't be a democrat, no matter how many times Looney Tunes Pelosi says she is.

Congratulations Kirsten!! Welcome Home!! I think she has said that her mother was an atheist and I think she’s pro-life.....next step conservative Republican!

I wonder if the Priest that converted Bob Novak, Larry Kudlow and others.

The Catholic Church is lobbying hard to flood the US with Central and South American immigrants. That threatens my freedom, my family’s freedom and my descendants’ freedom, because it will turn the whole country into California - a one-00party socialist state.

An institution that is actively working against America’s Liberty is not one I can sign on with.

I wish Catholics were true to those doctrines, but Protestants have a much higher percentage of voting Republican

I wouldn't be so sure about that.
Just look at all their HOMOSEXUAL PRIEST.
What's so unusual about a DemocRAT joining Satan's Puppet ?

Well isn't that convenient for Msgr. Pope's thesis.

Sorry, evangelicals becoming Catholics is too rare to be expected. My Spidey-sense just rang a bell.

I wish Catholics were true to those doctrines, but Protestants have a much higher percentage of voting Republican.

Bold indicates when majority catholics voted for GOP presidential candidate.

1956 51 49
1960 78 22
1964 76 24
1968 59 33
1972 48 52
1976 57 41

Gallup figures are from www.gallup.com. Gallup estimates are based on final pre-election surveys, later weighted according to actual results.

Kirsten had her big “conversion” story, but then was still as obnoxiously leftist on Fox as she always was. We will probably discover that her reason for her conversion to Catholicism will be because of Pope Francis... which is bad, because that means she’s converting because the Pope acts like a stupid Marxist.

What’s your point? I said that a much higher percentage of Protestants vote Republican, and that’s indisputable

It’s my understanding that practicing Catholics predominantly vote Republican.

I know it’s difficult to see the distinction between the Church and the evil men that have infiltrated Her with the intent of perverting Her truth, but there is one. These men — Bergoglio, Kasper, Cupich, Dolan and the rest — are not the Church. They’re politicians, hiding behind masks and wearing costumes. The Church is their disguise.

Traditional Catholics see what the modernist hierarchy is up to, and are actively fighting it. Unfortunately, the infiltration has been a century in the making and we have our work cut out for us.

It’s not much different than the position American patriots find themselves in with their country and their government. In fact, it’s almost identical.

I am curious. If Pelosi is a Catholic and is pro-abortion. why then wont the Catholic Church excommunicate her?

Even practicing Catholics are subsidizing a church bureaucracy that is among the biggest open-borders lobbying organizations. It uses their pledge money to push for immigration policies that are turning America into a blue country. If the Catholic Church gets its way, every state will be like California within 10 years

The true Church, made up of all those washed by the Blood of Christ, can never be infiltrated or compromised Earthly denominations, all of them, have their struggles But Christ will preserve His Church universal and triumphant

My Catholic acquaintances all vote Democrat and are solidly sold on the concept of welfare as charity.

My Lutheran acquaintances (LCMS) all vote Republican and are pretty certain that charity is charity and welfare is theft.

The Catholic Church’s campaign to flood the US with (Democrat) immigrants isn’t a matter of the traditionalis-modernist doctrinal issues you’re talking about. It’s a business campaign to increase its customer base in the US, embraced by Catholics of all doctrinal persuasions

Its a campaign that sers the Catholic Church in opposition to continued freedom in America

Depends on the whose definition of “practicing” is being used. Plenty of novus ordo Catholics who attend Mass twice a year would self-identify as “practicing”.

If we’re talking about people who actually try to live the faith every day and don’t pick and choose the teachings they like vs. the teachings that inconvenience them, the idea of voting for a democrat is a grave mortal sin. I can say with absolute certainty that, in my parish, democrat party support is right around 0%.

The fact is, there are two very different groups of Catholics right now. Until the polling on political preferences reflects this reality, the polling is useless.
