Kirsten Powers awakens to the beauty and depth and riches of the Catholic faith
http://wizbangblog.com ^ | October 9, 2015

Just under two years ago, Msgr. Charles Pope wrote in part of Kirsten Powers’ conversion to evangelical Christianity:

The other day I read a beautiful conversion story, a witness story of a woman I have long admired, Kirsten Powers. She is a Fox News Commentator. And while I do not always agree with her political perspectives, she is a solid journalist, she gives fair consideration to all issues, and is, to my mind, a very classy lady.

He went on to chronicle and respond to Ms. Powers testimony, one describing her embrace of an Evangelical Presbyterian Church and the struggles and challenges that followed.

But it’s the following words that caught my eye in Msgr. Pope’s piece:

I pray that Kirsten Powers will grow strong in faith and deep in conviction that Jesus is Lord and the KirstenPowerslover of her soul.

“But Father, but Father….!” I hear some of you saying, “She did not become Catholic! How can we praise this!?” Well, all I know is that we are all on a journey. And the Lord has surely led some of the best Catholics through the Evangelical denominations ultimately to the Catholic Church. And I will add that their time there (in the Evangelical denominations) was not a detour or wasted. In fact some of the greatest converts to the Catholic Church bring many gifts from their time as Evangelicals: Love for Jesus, the understanding of a personal and intimate walk with the Lord, a love for Scripture, and a zeal for souls.

At a personal level I would love for Ms. Powers to one day find herself in full union with the Catholic Church. For now I am joyful she found Jesus and I trust Jesus to lead her.

I’m concurring with you and showing how catholics primarily support dimocrat candidates.

Does your parish refuse to give any money to you diocese? If they don’t refuse to do so, they’re subsidizing the Democrats because the Catholic bueaucracy lobbies to bring more Democrat voters into America

But of course, no Catholic parish can withhold money from the diocese, so whatever the politics of your congregation, as Catholics you’re helping the Dem Party

The doctrinal and political issues are inseparable. The same men trying to rewrite doctrine are also working to alter the political landscape to one more amenable to the new doctrine. It’s a two-front attack, as it’s always been.

My point is, if you are financially supporting the Catholic Church, you’re helping the Dem Party. It’s ironic that the “practicing Catholics” you mention are doing more for the Dem party than non-practicing Catholics, if you assume they put more money in the plate over the course of any given year

That’s true. As long as we’re in communion with Rome, we’re feeding the beast. I get it.

The same can be said for every tax payer paying tribute to the satanic, child killing government we live under.

That’s what I was alluding to when I said the situation was analogous to what patriots are facing in America.

Back in the 80s my old man said "Labor unions and catholics have been the core of the democrat party for 75 years and they are taking them for granted. They'll lose them if this keeps up."

My old man was a catholic pro-union guy who stopped voting democrat around that time. In his case, he was right. But overall he got it wrong. He's right, they are not the base of the party anymore but they still vote slavishly dem, like jews.

It’s true, but practicing Catholics only make up 25% of those that call themselves Catholic and even then it is about a 55-45 split between conservative(orthodox)-liberal(progressive) who attend Church on a weekly basis.

Does any one out there know how the Orthodox break down in elections?

They can’t be devout Catholics if they support abortion and homosexuality. They can PRETEND to be devout Catholics, and put on a nice show of appearing pious...But Jesus has something to say about such people.

I understand your point. That’s the nature of oppression, we’re all being forced to finance our own destruction, whether through taxation or tithing.

If you find a way out from under it, let me know. In the meantime, we’ll continue to fight to change the course or our Church and country from within. Because nothing can be done from the outside.

Actually the Church says there are five things you can’t vote for any politician that supports them.
Abortion, homo marriage, euthanasia, and embryonic stem cell research are four of them, forgot the other one. Basically, that means if you vote for Dems, you are voting against the Church. They also warn against the evil of moral equivalence, saying that if a pol is good for charity, or something else good, but for abortion, they still have to be voted against.

Dems and Catholic policy are like oil and water, they can’t mix.

If the Catholic Clergy put up a strong effort in opposing abortion then I believe your dad would have been correct. The Catholic Church clergy are for the most part TIMID.

You are correct. This is merely the struggle of our time. Sometimes I have to re-read the ending to remind myself not to despair.

I wish Catholics were true to those doctrines, but Protestants have a much higher percentage of voting Republican

God does not care about our petty politics. Eternal life is in the balance - either In Christ and Saved for eternity, or out of Christ and facing an eternity in hell. Everything else is pretty incidental.

That said, the Democrat platform must truly make Him vomit: Pro-Abortion, Pro-Euthanasia, Pro-Pornography, Pro-Sodomites, Anti-Marriage, Promoting Race and Class warfare, and - whenever possible - Anti-Christianity.

Satan, on the other hand, would feel right at home in the Democrat Party. He hates all humans and loves to promote misery. The Democrat platform seeks to increase the number of lost souls that will end up in his dominion.

Being an obnoxious left leaning democrat and Catholic is a perfect fit. She fits right in with Pelosi, Biden, and all the others. She went out from us because she was never one of us.

OMGosh. She is prolife, but barely. She will for a time make a fine socialist leaning Catholic, so keep praying Msgr. Pope!

She needs to be a real Catholic because the standard is high even as a Catholic to have more than a “social” conscience, but a “well formed” conscience.

Being one more protestant inside the Catholic Church, who likes to claim the mantel and enjoys the pomp and circumstance, is most of our problem today. Think Vatican II. The Church in the West is full of protestants to the faith. Period.

In many dioceses she is excommunicated. This means she can not be a communicant of communion— the real presence of our Lord Jesus, in the form of bread and wine.

Communicated - communicant

She is a former communicant, or “ex-communicated”, in these dioceses.

Seems the Church more expeditiously ex-communicates priests, bishops and cardinals and far more publically, as a warning to the flock that these shepherds are practicing outside the faith in the role of Shepherd, and one who has become a wolf.

A simple Catholic lay person, like Pelosi, is less frequently formally and publically ex-communicated because they are considered a lamb, not a shepherd. The Church remains anxious for her return, BUT, Pelosi is ex-communicated because she has excommunicated herself, by her openly hostile behavior to Church teachings.

Without confession and renouncing her wayward ways she remains excommunicated until she does change her ways and repent. Also, bishops and priests who continue to knowingly allow her to receive communion make themselves complicit in her sin.

Yes, that tells you how far some bishops and priests themselves have fallen in the USA, away from the Church.
We are out of control here in America, and hardly resemble anything but one more Protestant church in this present time. We have given up our identity and certainly the Mass is vandalized today. Any Protestant would be comfortable there.

“My very RC relatives are devout Catholics And abortion loving homo marriage supporting pillars of their parish”

They might support their parish but they damn sure ain’t “devout Catholics”. But they are hypocrites and will bust hell wide open for believing in abortion and homo “marriage”. They embarrass real Catholics.
