The Pope Who Didn’t Like Catholicism

If you are a typical observant Catholic who has struggled with this papacy, dealt with distress caused by his words and actions, and generally struggled with dislike for the pontifex, it's OK. Well, all right, it's not: honestly, it is both strange and painful for a Catholic to be at odds with the Successor of Peter.

It is, however, completely understandable.

Why? Because, in this case, he gives every indication of not liking you first.

In fact, I think it's safe to say that we are dealing with the fascinating-and unique-spectacle. Namely, a Bishop of Rome who truly dislikes the Church.

Somehow we ended up, simultaneously, with an anti-Catholic Pope and an anti-American American president. The time is ripe for conspiracy theorists.

I have said earlier on FR that Pope Francis is to the Catholic Church what Obama is to America- a disaster.. -Tom

Is thisPope Catholic?

I grew up in the Church, but became a Methodist in adulthood.
I have always still respected the Pope.
Until now.

I think they forced Benedict out to put this imposter in there.

This is a Pope that is against Christianity! He appears to be leading the Catholic Church to the same sewer as Presbyterian Church USA, Evangelical Lutheran Church in American, Episcopal Church USA, United Church of Christ, and much of the United Methodist Church. When is he going to approve - or demand - the flying of the abomination rainbow flag? Please, may that never happen, Lord!

I would tend to agree with your suspicion that Benedict was forced out. Just as Cardinal Burke has been given the bum’s rush. There is a sea change taking place in the Holy See, and it is not a good one.

Looks like if you’re a white, Catholic, American none of your leaders think much of you.

Of course, if you’re also a heterosexual male, you should just shoot yourself.

And this last year of Obama expect the Pope and the UN to join Obama on beating up on the USA over climate change..

In this picture, two peas in a pod. Two socialists in a pod.

I grew up mostly in the papacy of John Paul II. I loved the guy. He was a very brave man and he reached me at a deep level. Along with Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, these three were largely responsible for the fall of the Soviet Union.

The current pope, not so much. He does a very convincing imitation of a socialist. I believe he would have been quite happy in Communist Poland. And that is sad.

I am one of those dispossessed American Catholics. Sick of the homosexual priests and the tolerance of the Church in their sins, sick of the socialist policies of this pope, sick of the Catholic Services agencies grasping at big bucks importing Syrian ISIS followers.

The Church has lost so much of it’s moral capital. And that too is very, very sad.
