Why Christmas was never celebrated by the New Testament Church, either night or day.

Oh! But the Nativity is celebrated by the angels, the shepherds and the Three Wise Men.

Do you need to check your Bible again? How about Luke 2:1-20

Even Herod wanted to know where this King was, but the three wise men didn’t go back to tell him.

We don't "know" that Christmas was "never celebrated" in the NY Church. All we know is that, like ten thousand other things, it was not recorded.

Do we think people never sneezed from Adam to the last words of Revelation, because sneezing is not mentioned in the Bible?

Or, more relevantly, do we think people are wrong by having their marriages witnessed in church by a Minister of the Gospel, when that is nowhere mentioned, let alone prescribed, in the NT?

Using the "argument from silence" with the Scriptures is particularly wrong-headed because the Bible itself tells us that MOST of what Jesus said and did was not recorded. The last sentence in the Gospel of John is:

"But there are also many other things that Jesus did; if every one of them were written down, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written."

Mathew 2:1-12 for additional celebration.

All the references are there for all to read.
But like most Catholics, you;d rather stick to the traditions of MEN, and refuse what your Heavenly Father has shown you IN THE BIBLE !

That’s so poorly researched and reasoned that it sounds like something from the drooler George Armstrong. I wonder if he knows his “church” has abandoned his nutty, stupid, anti-scriptural, bone-headed beliefs?

“Read it from the Original Catholic Encyclopedia (OCE) then”

The two sources DO NOT SAY THE SAME THING. Please note, I said the first source seemed very poorly researched and reasons - so badly so that it sounded like something put together by the dead drooler, Armstrong, the cult leader.

The very fact that the author of your source calls early Christians “nominal Christians” when they were dying for their Christian faith shows the author was a twit at best. Now, what part of that do you not understand?

What part of "ALL the sources are there for all to read" do you not understand ?
It's is well researched and well documented.
But you did NOT dispute ANY of the sources given, DID YOU ?
NO !
You simply attacked the messenger, and NOT the message.
Defend yourself, and your love of "the customs of MEN" .

“What part of “ALL the sources are there for all to read” do you not understand ?”

What I don’t understand is the idiocy or mendacity of Armstrong. Armstrong either was a fool (e.g. British Israelitism) or a liar (again, British Israelitism). Which is it? He was renounced by his own son - who then went on to invent his own nutty sectarian views. Armstrong was renounced by his own sect after his death. And that sect now celebrates Christmas. https://www.gci.org/christmas/tolerance In other words, the very people Armstrong spent his money and time training to succeed him knew he was full of it.

“It’s is well researched and well documented.”

Actually, no. It is not well researched. It is pseudo research. To those who are poorly educated and easily fooled it probably comes across as downright academic, but it isn’t. That’s why Armstrong’s own followers no longer follow it. It’s nonsense. Also, it is not well documented. Many people today make the mistake of thinking that just because something mentions sources or has detailed footnotes that means the work is valid, or the work is well reasoned. It isn’t. As someone who worked as a researcher on a professional level for many years I know this to be the case.

“But you did NOT dispute ANY of the sources given, DID YOU ?
NO !”

I don’t have to. The fact that the body that used to print it now admits that it was all hogwash tells me all I really need to know.

“You simply attacked the messenger, and NOT the message.”

When the messenger was a corrupt, lying, nutty cult leader the message is automatically suspect. The drooler was a cult leader who either was stupid or a liar or both. What he wasn’t was an honest scholar of any ability.

“Defend yourself, and your love of “the customs of MEN” .”

I have no need to defend myself since I am absolutely correct on this in every way. And Christmas is not a “custom of MEN” but a work of God through His Church since it is entirely about Him, His Incarnation, His Nativity in this world for our redemption, and a true gift to men from Him.

Why do you bring the bible into your conversations??? It doesn't match anything you say...

The nativity was celebrated by the angels and shepherds, ONCE...When it happened...Or do you guys constantly re-present the nativity as you claim with the Crucifixion???

The Magi NEVER celebrated the nativity...You are always making things up and claiming they are backed up by scripture...

You constantly tell us to check the scriptures and when we do it shows you are wrong...

Then why not be honest and say these things 'may' have happened instead of claiming facts impossible to know???
