In recent days, the governments of two predominantly Muslim nations have warned their citizens not to celebrate Christmas, according to a report published by the Qatar-based Al Jazeera broadcasting agency

"All events related to Christmas and New Year celebrations are contrary to Islamic culture, which could damage the faith of the Muslim community," said the director general of Somalia's religious affairs ministry.

Brunei's non-Muslims are permitted to organize their own Christmas celebrations but are forbidden to disclose them to Muslims, The Sydney Morning Herald reported. Muslims who send Christmas greetings, use Christmas trees or lights, or otherwise take part in Christmas celebrations face up to five years in prison.

I know Christians who say the same thing. They constantly harp on the pagan roots of many of the traditions, the commercialism, etc. This is a case where the insecure Christians (who think that salvation can be yanked from them for some collection of trangressions) are really no different from the insecure Muslims (who think that their salvation is based on weighing their good acts compared to their bad acts).

If their faith is so weak that it can be damaged by someone celebrating Christmas, it is a pretty pathetic faith.

Huh.
Sounds like they’re afraid too many Muslims might want to convert.

Trading in their scimitars, suicide vests, and 72 horny virgins, for salvation thru grace, brought to us by a tiny Baby, God Among Us, might seem like too good of a deal to pass up.

Merry Christmas everyone!
