I agree with you. Tithing = legalism. Not pertinent under Grace. But the preachers sure hit you with the concept. Everyone involved in a local church should give to support the ministry, but actual “tithing” is not Biblical now.

Another thing that I have a problem with is the concept of having to become a member of a local church. There’s nothing wrong with it — if you want to — but I don’t see it mentioned in the Bible.

The only advantage of membership I see is the privilege of being able to have some say in church governing, being able to vote.

as my pastor says, If everybody just gave something, then there wouldn’t always have to be a push to get people to give ten percent.
Churches, too, suffer from the 20/80 rule where 20% of the people give 80% of the offerings.
