The Death and Vanity of David Bowie
IFB ^ | 1/15/16

Posted on 01/15/2016 7:52:36 PM PST by The Ignorant Fisherman

How tragic it is when a fallen human being gives themselves totally over to the base and lawless practices of this little fallen world and sell their souls seeking to find satisfaction and contentment by living a godless and lawless life. In the end of one's godless vanity there is an ETERNAL price to be paid which has now become a HORRIFIC SOBERING REALITY (Psalm 14:1-3, Mark 8:36-37, Rom. 3; 5:12-21, Gal. 6:7-8, Jude 1:11-13, Rev. 20:11-15).

For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Mark 8:36-37

David Bowie's death this week has multitudes around the world reflecting on his existence here in time. Mr. Bowie was one of society's arch godless trendsetters who pushed the limits and boundaries of Almighty God's moral absolutes like none other for his time (Rom. 1:18-32). David was a mighty lawless tool and lewd vanguard in the hands of the god of this world in seeking to transform and destroy the Judeo/Christian culture worldwide (Matt. 7:16-18, Rom. 1:18-32, Jude 1:8-13,18). David Bowie is a trendsetter hero and worshiped by millions throughout the world for his anti - Creator trendsetting ways. What brief things I just shared about David Bowie is well known by all and his opinions and thoughts about Almighty God are his own judge on this matter.

...there's a place in which Jesus tells us there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, but no hope of any comfort coming, ever.

Where?

I have loosely followed,David Bowie’s career since nearly the beiginning, and from afar, from my limited, view, he looks more like a prodigal son than a Hell-bound unrepentant sinner.

He found success fairly early, and with it the excesses thereof: drugs, or gastric sex, perversions, etc.

But at some point he seemed to have a spiritual awakening. And although he repudiated that experience to a degree, he reformed his life. He married, stayed faithful, had a daughter, and lived fairly quietly. At least, as quietly as a rock star who keeps releasing music periodically.

And never stopped wrestling with God. God doesn’t mind the folks, who wretle with Him, since it’s better than being ignored. It’s the people who walk away from Him who may have,an eterna l problem.

I hold out great hope for this Prodigal turned Dutiful son.

Bowie tried to split SRV away from Double Trouble. That was far more of an offense than his sex life.

Nobody knew who SRV was until "Let's Dance" came out.

I noted Iman’s Tweet just before Bowie passed...
“The struggle is real, but so is God.”

Perhaps the purpose of the demonic imagery is to serve as a warning.

Bowie did not stand for anything that this site seems to represent....

I've been a member for a decent amount of time here but have always separated my opinion of music from the main topic of our conservative beliefs on FR.

Some, no doubt think they could or should be intertwined and that's ok, I just choose to disagree - I love the Blues and Rock n Roll that includes Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, KISS and yep - David Bowie.

Others want to live and have different opinions too and that's OK - the belief we have here though is not far from what Bowie thought - we should not deviate from what we believe, period.

i can see the reasoning in your post.

it’s just that i always found the guy likable, and i liked some of his songs. and he played a POW in a japanese camp very well.

i still am sad he passed and i still like him.

never went to a concert or bought an album, but if i like his music that much, i would have.

unless you want to watch NO tv, never go to the movies and never listen to music, chances are you’re a fan of pretty bad sinner.

it’s life

I love Scripture and am familiar (and in love with) Acts, Romans, Ephesians, etc.

Carrying the Word seems to get a bit tarnished when it slams a soul that has moved on and can only be touched by God or Satan. To what Biblical purpose does one water the grave of the dead with urine?

Easy to hide behind the "God Bless you my son because I got the Spirit burning so hotly inside me that it's committing arson" bit but there are better ways to carry the Word than to declare a soul (who only God really knows" as a lost tragedy.

That said, God Bless for much of your work - I just happen to think that you may have had a flash of the "holier than thou" and used poor judgement on this one - the Biblical Word is good, the vehicle for transmitting it was not. We're all human and I have no allusions about myself - if not for His Love and Sacrifice, I would be a truly lost soul. It makes me stick to discernment rather than judgement (except when it doesn't) of my equally flawed human brothers and sisters.

You mentioned Paul of Tarsus - I recall that, even having met the risen Christ and becoming one of the shrewdest purveyors of God's Word (he would assimilate into cultures to aid his ability to carry the Word), but he still lamented how he kept finding himself doing the things he wouldn't do (sinful acts) and not doing the good things that he knew he should be doing.

The New Covenant is God's plan for our souls and it also points out that we (every one of us) are still flawed humans living under His Grace.

At any rate, I generally love what you post.

For some reason my mind started playing the tune "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me - mission accomplished, even with my abrasiveness, my mind has turned towards Him -- Thanks

"Yep, and to people who might be watching to see if Christianity is something they want to know more about."

Catherine, Christians strive to emulate Christ, and Jesus Christ never held back on declaring evil just to try to impress pagans that he was a "nice guy". Jesus told it like it is. When he found money changers using the temple for evil, he proclaimed it loudly. Another time in the synagogue of Capernaum, when the Pharisees refused to answer Jesus' questions,he got very angry and openly denigrated them.

If people honestly want to see "if Christianity is something they want to know more about", then they (and you) need to know that Christians will denounce ungodly attitudes and actions by those around them. There is a good reason for doing this. God has commanded us to spread the Gospel.... why? .... to prevent people from dying in their sins and going to hell. Using Bowie's life example to people who may be grieving over his death and point out not only the wrong in Bowie's lifestyle, but perhaps even more importantly can point out that no matter how sinful this man was, if he had confessed his sins to Christ and confessed a belief in the Savior, then he would be in heaven today. If pointing this out can save other lives, it is justified. Perhaps David Bowie did confess belief in private just before he died. We cannot know for sure. It is the sincere prayer of all true Christians that he did.

Precisely! And that's all that really needs to be said.

RIP David Bowie. You have our prayers!

"Precisely! And that's all that really needs to be said."

I think perhaps you missed the whole point I was making. Though we "pray" (really meaning hope) that he professed Christ before he died, our prayers won't necessarily make it so. Bowie would have had to do his part as well. That needs to be made clear to a sinful crowd so that they too won't neglect that little detail and end up spending all eternity in a place they won't like.

Fully aware of Christ’s rule you without sin throw the first stone. Love the sinner hate the sin. Problem I have with some modern day Christianity is that the behavior of sin is incorporated into the doctrine in these times. Christ told the disciples to spread the Word but if it’s not wanted shake off the dust and move on. Forget ‘em. Paul the same. Have a great day.

Yeah, that's why Bowie wanted him. Because nobody knew who he was. LOL.

No to mention, of course, that Bowie's recognition of him was what enabled him to play guitar better than anyone else.

Do the three men hangin on the crosses, simulating sexual hip gyrations, serve to mock Christ in Bowie’s BlackStar video?

That's mighty generous of you. God loves it when you show Him a few table scraps after you've finished judging the souls of others.

“Isn’ t she Muslim?”

I have loved her since she appeared in VOGUE. She is seemingly a lovely person & a very smart businesswoman. By all means, please call her up & then report back to us. We await your post w/ absolute breathlessness.

I was going to go see a matinee, but how will I concentrate until I know if Iman is a Muslim???? She MAY have to get back to you, being busy w/ dead husband stuff & all that. The minute you know, post!
