U.S. Catholic-Muslim Dialogue Launched, Chicago Archbishop Cupich to Co-Chair

(RNS) The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops announced Monday (Feb. 8) that it was starting a new National Catholic-Muslim Dialogue group, an initiative driven in part by growing anti-Islamic sentiment that many bishops have denounced.

"As the national conversation around Islam grows increasingly fraught, coarse and driven by fear and often willful misinformation, the Catholic Church must help to model real dialogue and good will," Bishop Mitchell T. Rozanski of Springfield, Massachusetts., said in a statement.

"Our current dialogues have advanced the goals of greater understanding, mutual esteem and collaboration between Muslims and Catholics, and the members have established lasting ties of friendship and a deep sense of trust," he said.

Rozanski is head of the bishops' ecumenical and interreligious committee, which has sponsored three regional Catholic-Muslim dialogues during the past two decades.

Most likely, they will eat their words when their fold is attacked on our soil.

The choice- we become Muslim or they kill you; they renounce Islam. IF people will just understand a few fundamentals of Islam they’d understand you go with God The Father Almighty or Allah who is most likely (and I think) Satan.

I know and will choose GOD, despite what they plan on doing to me.

I wonder if Bishop Mitchell T. Rozanski has ever heard of a thing called taqiyya? Some intense islamic history lessons would serve the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops well before they get too cozy with the muslims.

The question is - with WHOM is an archbishop going to “dialogue?”

Islam has no central authority. Certainly, there are a few long-standing schools places of Islamic study, but they do not have authority to change one word of the Koran, Sura or Hadith. These words must be taken on absolute faith - and the words are very clear. Their prophet did not create a philosophical structure, but a word-for-word political ideology.

There is SUPPOSED to be a dialogue between Christians and Muslims.

It’s called EVANGELISM.

The sound you hear is El Cid, the Crusaders, the Poles, the Franks, etc. who shed their blood fighting the Mohammedans turning over in their graves.

I was born into a Catholic Church with a Catholic Pope; for that I am thankful. Today, the Church is rotten with a succession of rotten popes and heretical clergy.

I know my punishment will be unimaginably horrid; I will take solace that their’s will be infinitely worse.

We Catholics who have as heroes Charles Martel, El Cid, and Jan Sobieski, need never fear losing heart in the face of the Saracen fiends.

We Catholics who are free Americans have the right of bearing arms against the Muslim enemy in our midst.

Muslims within America confine their jihad to rhetoric & veiled threats. Muslims who do attack wind up dead. It’s not as bad as it could be for us.

A number of years ago, shortly after 9/11, the message from the pulpit was that Islam was a religion of peace. Our bishop, Sevilla of the Yakima Diocese, was going to meetings with the Islamics and spreading this lie to his priests, who spread it to the parishioners.

Well, he went to San Francisco for one meeting with great anticipation of making understanding with the Islamics. When he came back, there was no more talk of Islam being a religion of peace. It was no longer mentioned.

Although nothing more was said, I deduced that he went down to the meeting and was educated on Islam and he didn't like it.

As an Illinois Catholic, I can confidently tell you that you overestimate Archbishop Cupich. If the Islamolunatics blow up his cathedral while he is saying Mass and he survives, he will call a press conference to demand "understanding" for the poor oppressed Islamolunatics who were only expressing themselves by blowing up the cathedral and trying to kill them. He will then go on a grand falafel luncheon tour of as many parishes as he can to drive the point home. At the next meeting of the US Conference of Catholic Biahops, he will ask them to create a committee to consider whether Caatholics should become Muslims.

Cupich would regard all of the above as far preferable to allowing his priests to lead an actual Catholic revival or to defend marriage as between one man and one woman for life or to effectively lead pro-life activities as priests. Cupich is the enemy within the Church, a new Bernardin, a "religious" treasonweasel with iittle enthusiasm for actual religion.

Can I say anything nice about Cupich? Sure. He will turn 67 on March 19, 2016 and must, by Vatican rules, submit his resignation to a hopefully actual Catholic pope on March 19, 2024. Eight more years of suffering for Illinois Catholics and particularly those in the Chicago Archdiocese.

Cupich has set a goal this week of closing 1 out of every three parishes in his Archdiocese by 2030 (though he won't be there that long). This is the leftist solution to the priest shortage. It means shrink the Church to death so long as the mindless leftist upper middle class booboisie can "feel" that they and their priorities are in charge. The conservative solution is for diocesan bishops to assert a robust and uncompromising Catholic orthodoxy which attracts the best young men to the priesthood in larger numbers more than adequate to replace retiring clergy.

If we are fortunate, a new pope would be elected ASAP, create a new curial congregation on changing toilet paper rolls in Vatican porta johns and tell Cupich to accept its chairmanship and leave Chicago or be retired by papal decree.

Did you actually have a problem with John Paul I, with Pope St. John Paul II, or with Pope Benedict XVI?

I'm reminded of the original War of the Worlds, where the preacher, bible held high, advances on the alien space ship in a gesture of peace.

Islam and Protestants have no leadership like the Catholics do. Since there is no international, central Muslim or Protestant leader, NO ONE can speak for all Islam or all Protestant denominations on an international level.

Therefore WHY take the word of ANY one Imam or any Protestant Bishop? Why even LISTEN to any of them? S/he/They speak ONLY for themselves and their congregation.

Just wondering.
