Urges are temporary thoughts.

I came to realize that when I finally committed to quit smoking.

After the first day without, I began to notice some things.

1. My hard cravings came only about 3 times per day: around 10:30 am, 2:30 pm, and 7:30 pm.

2. My hard cravings lasted only about 15 seconds and then subsided.

I convinced myself that I could last through that 15 seconds three times per day.

A week without passed. Two weeks. A month.

During that time, my cravings got milder and eventually subsided completely.

But, at about 6 months without, all of the sudden, the cravings were back and hitting hard. I resisted. I noticed they followed basically the same pattern (15 second three times per day). I resisted — not even a curiosity puff. In a couple of weeks, the cravings were basically gone.

That all started in late January 2003. I just started my 13th year of being a non-smoker.

What a great testimony. Thank you very much. Do you mind commenting under the article too? So readers there see it and get encouraged and inspired. Apostle Paul says, resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Here is a similar and another way to quit smoking or any addiction.
