Churches Under a Curse
Israel Today ^ | March 07, 2016 | Charles Gardner

Churches are bleeding to death because of their refusal to love and support the Jewish people.

An internal report from the Presbyterian Church USA, noted for its anti-Israel stance, predicts that it stands to lose 400,000 members over the next five years1. Methodists in the UK, whose leaders passed a resolution boycotting Israel some years ago, have also seen a dramatic decline in numbers, and are now making things worse by advocating a boycott of Cadbury2 - an insult to the memory and considerable legacy of the chocolate family's Christian ethos and significant contribution to Britain's wealth.

Not only that, but one of their number, Richard Cadbury, was a man dedicated to the cause of Jewish mission. After being taken ill with diphtheria during a tour of Egypt in 1899, he was cared for at a Jerusalem hospital (now a school) run by the Church's Mission among Jewish people where, sadly, he died. But out of gratitude for the kindness with which he was treated, he left them a tidy sum of money. This enabled them to extend the facility to include a new ward for the treatment of infectious diseases and employ an extra nurse, thereafter known as the Cadbury nurse.3

Best-selling author Bill Bryson, in his latest book The Road to Little Dribbling4, says he hadn't realized how Quakers5 in 18th century Britain were a bullied and downtrodden minority excluded from politics and academia. But they made their mark in industry and commerce, particularly in banking (Barclays and Lloyds) and the manufacture of chocolate (Cadbury, Fry and Rowntree).

"They and many others made Britain a more dynamic and wealthy place entirely as a consequence of being treated shabbily by it," he writes with his usual penetrating wit. And in that respect they had much in common with Jewish communities of the era. At any rate, Richard Cadbury loved the Jews because of his devotion to Jesus.

Scripture is quite clear that those who bless the seed of Abraham will themselves be blessed, but those who curse them will be judged. (Genesis 12.3) It is perfectly evident that both Methodists and Presbyterians, tragically now more influenced by worldly wisdom than biblical values, are under a curse of their own making. The worldwide blessing brought about by Methodist founder John Wesley's bold proclamation of the gospel (along with his support for Israel) has been lost.

In his notes on Romans, Wesley wrote: "So many prophecies refer to this grand event (of the restoration of Israel) that it is surprising any Christian can doubt of it. And these are greatly confirmed by the wonderful preservation of the Jews as a distinct people to this day. When it is accomplished, it will be so strong a demonstration, both of the Old and New Testament revelation, as will doubtless convince many thousand Deists in countries nominally Christian."6

Remember that he was writing this in the latter part of the 18th century, almost a quarter of a millennium ago, without the benefit of witnessing these very things taking place before his eyes. Yet in our generation we have been immensely privileged to watch God's chosen people, after nearly 2,000 years of dispersion, returning home to their ancient land from every corner of the world.

The biblical prophets foretold all this - in fact half of all Old Testament prophecies relate to Israel's restoration. Followers of Jesus, the Jew, ought to rejoice that, in fulfillment of ancient prophecies, his brothers in the flesh are back in the land. For the Scripture also makes clear that once they have all returned (which is still to happen), Jesus will reveal himself to the entire nation as the Messiah for whom they have long been waiting. And then he will return to rule and reign with all believers - both Jew and Gentile - who have bowed the knee before him.

Israel is not perfect, nor should we expect her to be. For the most part, Israelis are not yet following their Messiah, but Christians who claim to be disciples of Jesus should know better. We must love those whom God loves, including our enemies (Matthew 5.44). You who would boycott Israeli goods (which adversely affects Palestinians too as many rely on Israel for their employment), do you pray for the peace of Jerusalem, as the Bible commands? (Psalm 122.6)

"I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse".

The Lord wasn't talking about Hamas in that verse.

Scripture is quite clear that those who bless the seed of Abraham will themselves be blessed

The Seed of Abraham and the inheritor of all of God's promises is Jesus Christ:

Gal_3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

And we, through Christ, become the seeds of Abraham:

"For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise." (Gal 3:27-29)

Unbelieving Jews are not members of the Israel of God, but only according to the flesh:

"Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed." (Rom 9:6-8)

It is, therefore, complete nonsense, from the Christian perspective, to claim that we are obligated to "love" and "bless" Israel, a secular state, merely because of their relation to Abraham according to the flesh, when the promises and scripture they cite apply to the Christians instead. It is also pretty offensive for religious Jews to attempt to lecture to Christians such doctrine that is contrary to our faith in Christ.

The reason the PCUSA is falling isn't because they picked a fight with "Israel." It's because they're doctrinally liberal, which, only coincidentally, also means they support such things as boycotts against Israel. People were leaving the PCUSA over gay pastors long before anything about Israel ever came up. But, supposedly, we're supposed to believe that by some magic, or by God's divine wrath, it was the moment they boycotted Jewish goods that suddenly these churches started going downhill. It's quite arrogant.

Given the parable of the ‘rich man’, Abraham is Christian. Christ while in the tomb went to those in prison and offered all those back to Noah ‘Salvation’. One Peter 3 and 4

Bibles would have to be read and believed in those churches. I suspect that isn’t happening.

I agree with this but it goes much deeper than their mistreatment of the Jewish people.

They have abandoned the very scriptures that are the foundations of doctrine.

They have abandoned Christian morals. They have abandoned Christ.

They have become the false prophets of the book of Revelations.

They will be cast in to the Lake of Fire and curse the day they were born.

There are spiritual laws and principles that cannot be broken without consequence.

Granted we live in an age of grace and are reconciled with God that way, but just as there are physical laws that govern our material universe, there are spiritual laws that apply.

Breaking those spiritual laws will have consequences, just as jumping off a building will have consequences when the law of gravity kicks in.

People are leaving the PCUSA in droves, because they realize that the PCUSA ruling elite has been hijacked by Satanic Legions

People are not stupid. Some stayed in PCUSA figuring they could get it back onto a good Christian path again. But it has been a number of years and PCUSA continues its descent into Hell ... despite the best efforts of the good Presbyterian Christians trying to restore their church from the inside

So, they’re leaving it. Fortunately, there are still a number of very good Christian churches including some Calvinist-influenced denominations outside of PCUSA, that the good faithful God-loving or God-fearing Presbyterians can go to.

Would that the Zionists believed that in its reverse, or, at least, in a “Christians aren’t bad guys” sort of sense. The Jewish state does not allow immigration or visitation for Christian missionaries. To talk about Jesus on the streets is an invitation to be spat on and arrested. On the other hand, a Muslim immigration moratorium for Europe or the US would be radical, according to Netenyahu these days.

Churches are also under a curse because of their rejection of God’s commands regarding sexual purity.

Love the Jews, but not their dead Christ-hating religion.

Memorized the whole NT book of Hebrews so as a help in explaining the meaning of our jointly shared Scriptures to them.

Also understand that America's turn against the reinstituted Israel is merely a fulfillment of eschatological prophecy, as well as the US not turning only from Israel, but from God and His Christ as well. As prophesied.

PCUSA also has gone pro-sodomy.

America needs a spiritual awakening.

And we, through Christ, become the seeds of Abraham:

Only if you continue in His goodness; otherwise you will be cut off. Be not highminded but fear.

Christians are obligated to love the Jews. The Jews are holy, and beloved, for the sake of the Messiah and the fathers.

I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness? For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office: If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them. For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead? For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches. And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again. For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree? For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits;that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes. For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all. O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counseller? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

Romans, Catholic chapter eleven, Protestant verses eleven to thirty six,
as authorized, but not authored, by King James, boldness mine.
