Plans Underway for Pope Francis to Visit Armenia

Vatican spokesman revealed that the trip may take place in June

The Vatican is studying the possibility of Pope Francis visiting Armenia in late June, the Vatican spokesman said.

Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, the spokesman, confirming Pope Francis's desire to make the trip, denied that it already was set for June 22-26 as a news website reported.

"It is true that a trip to Armenia in late June is being studied," he said on March 18, but the papal trip planners had not yet visited the country and neither the dates nor the program have been finalised.

The vast majority of the residents of Armenia - some 92 per cent - belong to the Armenian Apostolic Church, one of the Oriental Orthodox churches. Of the country's three million inhabitants, the Vatican says about 280,000 are Catholic, belonging either to the Latin-rite or to the Armenian Catholic Church, an Eastern church in full communion with Rome.

Correct, why not visit the towns in Europe that now are run by Muslims and practice Sharia Law.

There is no respect for him there, he would be killed and dragged thru the streets.

Seriously, I don’t wish him harm at all. But, the facts ARE the facts.

1915-2015.
The visit coincides with the 100 year anniversary of the Armenian genocide.

How is it coincidental? The year is 2016.

Francis visited Turkey in 2014.

You misread FRiend.

It is clearly not coincidental, which is why I wrote “coincides.”

Coincide definition: to occupy the same place in space, the same point or period in time, or the same relative position.

The intention is right. Pray that he delivers the right message.

But you're off on your years.

Besides, it seems Francis’ greatest interest, next to environmentalism, is Islamizing Europe.

He has already stated he does not want to convert anyone to Catholicism, "proselytism is solemn nonsense", and that the soul of one that does not go the Heaven is simply “annihilated” i.e.,not goes to Hell for eternity.

Pray that he delivers the right message.

I pray that nightly: for all men's sake and his own sake.
