So God got it wrong the first time around? I can't imagine that's what you're saying but "which is why" makes it look like that.
Regardless you don't address my point, which is that sinful men have been leading the People of God ever since there WAS a People. You don't bail on God just because the priests and kings have gone bananas. You're taking Him on your terms, not His. We all are prone to this in various ways.
All have sinned and come short of the glory of God ... including Mary the blessed Mother of Jesus. The most pernicious problem in catholic apologetics at FR seems to be conflating the Ekklesia of believers, with the man-made institutional orgs, like catholiciism, methodism, etc.
That is not to say that God is offended by the constructing of orgs, just that these are not THE Church of Jesus. These orgs are to be about the business of bringing people to an awakening that they need a Savior, that Jesus IS that Savior provided by God as God with us, and that the newborns have a collective strength to help one another.
When the org becomes the focus and claims to be the 'one true church' and lays claim to being the ONLY way to salvation, well, FAIL!
The Athanasian Creed Whoever wishes to be saved must, above all, keep the CATHOLIC faith. For unless a person keeps this faith whole and entire, he will undoubtedly be lost forever. This is what the CATHOLIC faith teaches:
Do you even have a clue about the whole purpose of the law and the priesthood?
Nobody said God got anything wrong. Stop putting words in people's mouths.
FWIW, I find the projection of Catholics onto non-Catholic Christians very enlightening as Catholics try to presume they know what others are thinking when they make their wild assumptions about what's going on in someone else's mind.
