When I read something like this, I become more convinced that, at least in the area of orthopraxis, and in much of orthodoxy as well, Biblical Lutherans (LCMS etc.) are more Catholic, in both senses of the term, than the Catholics.
The purpose of reformation is to return the church to where it is meant by God to be, not to split the church into pieces—but it always ends in splits, because those who do not walk with God must walk away.
So Christ’s prayer “that they may be one, as you, Father, and I are one” (John 17) was essentially a waste of time?
What you say usually happened in the past. But now “those who do not walk with God” decided not to walk away and to take over the Church. This is like the spoiled arrogant children throwing out the parents who tell the children what is best for the children (the Catechism of the Catholic Church for adults) and the children not only say no, but they throw out the CCC, and anyone else in the “old time religion” which still holds to the Ten Commandments!
We now have a guy at the top who is propagating bad praxis.
Nevertheless, must as I respect the LCMS --- and I do, I have often said so on this forum--- I would still urgently ask you to reflect that "The severed hand cannot heal the Body."
The Catholic Church would be in better shape with you in it; and you would be --- really --- in better shape in the Catholic Church.
Loins girded and ready to fight.
That's how I see it.
