“If memory serves correct, two of their singers came out as gay and married each other. We love in a screwed up world.”
We LOVE in a screwed up world. . .
Is that a Freudian slip, or just a loose frock?
I thought this was satire at first.
I got it from someone who follows stuff like this. Sort of the way Gamecock does. It’s not a joke. This church is a little out there.

YBPDLN* Ping List Ping!
Generally speaking The YBPDLN Ping List is published infrequently, however based on the exploits of the megachurch pastors posts can spike for a season.
Management will not ping members to every thread addressing megachurch pastors, but will tag articles of interest with the KEYWORD: YBPDLN.

So true.
That.
I’m quite familiar with Hillsong (I am a cult deprogrammer), and did some research, it is legit but it still reads like satire
Sorry no connection there just bad eyesight...: )
I guess this falls under “you can’t make this stuff up” sort of thing.
So they really a cult? People who get out have to by way of “Deprogramming”?
Any chance you can private message me? I tried to PM you but because I just signed up, that feature is not permitted yet. Maybe I can at least reply to a PM.
Thank you.
Hillsong's greatest songwriter was Brooke Fraser. She wrote 'Hosana' and 'Lead me to the Cross' for them.
She left them to return to a solo career, where she wrote some amazing Christian themed songs, most notably on the 'Albertine' cd.
But ever since, I haven't seen too much Christian themed music from this fine lady.
All I can do is not think of her as a lost sister in Christ and just be thankful that the Holy Spirit spoke strongly through her for a good portion of her young productive life.
There are 3 definitions of cult that I use. First is all religious practices (cultus) - the term used in Anthropology
The second is sociological or ‘high demand group’ - this can apply to groups that may or may not be sound theologically but follow the BITE model of control. Some Independent Baptist churches fall into this category.
The third is theological and applies to churches with teachings that are outside the core of the ‘parent’ church usually Christianity.
Momonism falls under all 3 groups, as does SDA and JW. From my research Hillsong is fringe on its teachings (cat 3) and very close to cat 2 as far as control. I have had a few people in my transition ministry from Bethel and one from Hillsong.
There’s a new branch of Hillsong Music named Hillsong Young and Free, which makes Justin Bieber-like music loosely aimed at millenials who have no clue about Christianity. It could be said that Hillsong Young and Free itself has no clue about Christianity :)
But their big hit is ‘Just want to be where You are’, which is a gorgeous pop song and surprisingly, I heard it was a monster hit with the MTV crowd.
Hillsong does not preach the gospel.
Fighting for the Faith’s Chris Rosebrough has literally spent hours dissecting their sermons. They are apostate.
Amazingly, they are also one of the fastest growing churches in the world. But, I’m not surprised. It seems we have reached the predicted time.
For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 2 Tim 4:3
