Gay Catholic Groups Want the Vatican to Do More Than Apologize
The New York Times ^ | 6/27/16 | Jim Yardley

ROME — Leaders of gay Catholic groups on Monday praised Pope Francis for saying that all Christians and the Roman Catholic Church owed an apology to gays for previous mistreatment, even as the groups called on the church to take more concrete steps to repudiate past teachings and condemn anti-gay violence.

Streaking across the sky on Sunday night in his papal airliner, returning from a visit to Armenia, Francis also visibly winced, momentarily overcome with emotion, when a journalist, Cindy Wooden, mentioned the recent attack at an Orlando gay nightclub and noted that Christians are sometimes blamed for stigmatizing homosexuals.

Francis did not directly address the Orlando killings. But he endorsed a comment of one of his top advisers who, soon after the Orlando attack, said that the church had marginalized gay people and should apologize.

The pope said the church “must” not only apologize to a gay person it offended, “but we must apologize to the poor, to women who have been exploited, to children forced into labor.”

Marianne Duddy-Burke, executive director of DignityUSA, a leading organization of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Catholics, said the pope’s remarks represented a powerful statement, if not enough.

“For a pope to acknowledge that the church has done so much damage to gay people, and that we deserve an apology, is an unprecedented act of humility,” she said in a telephone interview. “But a statement of remorse is only as good as the change in behavior that follows.”

Francis’s outreach toward gays has been part of his broader effort to welcome people who have felt marginalized by the church. He made global headlines early in his papacy when he signaled a new openness toward gays when he famously uttered, “Who am I to judge?”

Francis’ words raised hopes among some gay.....

The Lake of Fire is awaiting all homosexuals who want an apology rather than to repent.

Their choice.

Be much, much better and to be preferred if they repented.

Generally true of all Christians.

Well, unless they’re in a Romans 1:18-32 kinda way and just playing church but really unrepentant....

I wonder if the Pope can revise the Catholic Catechism on his own?

This “pope” is more concerned about global warming than following the Bible. He is fag friendly.

Instead of wincing, perhaps Pope-the-Dope should have pointed out that the killer was a MUSLIM. Not a Christian, a MUSLIM. Muslim. Muslim.

With all due respect to the Pope, given Matthew 23, I don’t see why the misguided Pope is equating Christianity to unquentioningly being nice to everybody.

Consider the following from a related thread ...

Contrary to Pope Francis’ misguided political correctness to be nice to LGBT people, Matthew 18:15-17 shows us that Jesus taught that a congregation is ultimately supposed to treat unrepentant sinners like pagans and tax collectors.

In fact, note that in 1 Corinthians 5, Paul reflected on Jesus’ teaching about unrepentant sinners by reprimanding the Corinthian Christians for not expelling a sexual offender, verse 1 Corinthians 5:13 based on God’s command to “purge the evil from among you" as evidenced by Deuteronomy 19:19.

The Pope also evidently doesn’t understand that 1 Corinthians 15:33 warns not to be misled, that “bad company corrupts good morals.”

The Pope is essentially telling Catholics to practice the Stockholm syndrome with respect to dealing with unrepentant sinners imo.

This Pope in on a Christian rampage. He will grovel before the Gays. Next he will order that all Catholic churches will perform Gay Marriages. It is coming.

Who are we to judge? Paul spoke to Corinthians about having a known sinner in their church to cast them out; if they repent let them back in and receive them in love. If they don’t repent, they do not get to come back and infect the rest of the church members.

Also, Matthew 7:1 says not to judge but further down in
Matthew 7:6 where Jesus says, “Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine….” He was talking about people who are dogs and swine! To obey verse 6, you must make some judgmental decisions about the person’s character! “That guy is a dog! That guy is a swine!”

This Pope is this:

Romans 16:17-18: “Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.”

It's the modus operandi of the enemies of America

Infiltrate, gain credence, accept a little but demand more

There is only ONE intention ...

Kill and destroy The United States of America ... and they really don't care how they do it

There's a link somewhere around here that identifies some 50 or so ISIS terror training camps already in the USA

I'll go look

How does the Pope change the Bible’s teachings that homosexuality is a sin to not a sin. That would be like saying all sins are not sins: murder, adultery, theft, lying, etc.

So, they want the Pole to “bend over?”

For this Pope, that is a foregone conclusion.

“We also have to respect, as I said in the first synod , some were dismayed but I think it’s normally can not say that a relationship between two men, if they are faithful , this is nothing, it has no value.” Cardinal Marx, member of Francis Gang o’ Nine said the above this past Friday in Dublin.

Gay and Catholic = oxymoron.

Can’t be a Catholic and a practicing homosexual.
