I had Fr Kostka as a teacher at St. Joe’s in the early 80’s. He was a wonderful and kind padre, but he seemed ancient even then. It’s hard to believe he is now over a century young. My brother is a padre in his order and thinks the world of him.

Thank you for posting and sharing your memories of Fr. Kostka! I was entering my senior year of HS, when VCII ended. The nuns were in full habit when we set off for summer vacation and in lay clothing when we returned. I was quite surprised to see how young some of them were. 25 years later, even the ones that seemed old when we graduated, were still active. :-)

And Father Esser climbed the water tower on his birthday every year until the late 70s, when he was ordered to stop it because of his age.
