I stopped reading at waterboarding. I'm an old school Catholic of the Church Militant variety. My hero (check out my tagline) was a pious Catholic who had no truck with muzzies. Perhaps in light of Munich, this piece may be ironic.

Why didn’t you LISTEN TO YOUR INNER VOICE? Hesitation means something.

Horse manure. I stopped reading at “Your salvation could well hang in the balance” depending on who you vote for. I’d like to see the scripture to back that bogus statement up.

and mine is Charles Martel. Due to him, France was free of the Muslim blight for centuries.

Yes, there are many medieval monarchs who stood up to Islam. Martel is a major figure in this. My hero never got to go on his crusade, being murdered by traitors to England.

No my one vote won't decide the outcome But if this argument dissuaded enough people from voting AGAINST the greater evil, it will result in the victory of the greater evil

Oh my Lord....he is channeling the Mormon Glen Beck
ANYONE who thinks we can survive as a nation with eight more years of Obama’s policies is certifiable. IF Hillary gets in she will appoint more justices than can ever be overcome. The second amendment will be gone....and most of what’s left of the constitution. Single payer health care. Higher taxes. The draft returned.
We will indeed look like Venezuela .

I was wary, when I read ‘I dont plan to tell you how to vote, but I do want to establish a few basic principles:...”
I honestly DID try to read this stupidity; but only I got as far as, “... because our obsession with politics is unhealthy and unholy (in that it reflects our fixation on this life rather than the next, and on worldly power instead of true discipleship). Wrong!

This is a stupid and immoral article.
The author picks a few isolated quotes from Trump about stopping terrorism and genocide. He implies that standing by passively and allowing genocide, mass torture and murder is morally superior to trying to end it.
That is an immoral and evil position.
It is our duty to prevent evil not to sit back and allow it to continue.
Unless this author grows up and learns about right and wrong and the duty to protect the innocent from murder and torture he should not become a priest. In fact, he should not hold any responsible, decision making position.

Unfortunately, people don’t pay attention to history any more. We are refighting ancient battles.

The idea that you need to vote for a bad candidate or else the even-worse-one will win has always been false. In a sinful world, "bad" is always better than "worse," because, as Jesus Himself put it, there is no one good except God (Mark 10:18). Always outside of the church, and all too often inside of it as well, our choices are between "bad" and "worse." In fact, the major sin of liberalism is that it is convinced that it and it alone can form and foster the perfect world and perfect people to inhabit it--all it has to do is force everyone to conform, and kill all those who don't.
I will vote for Jehu (Trump), not expecting saintly perfection, because the alternative of Jezebel (Hillary) is evil. And since God chose Jehu over Jezebel, I am figuring that is His thinking as well.

Not only sophistry, but boring and interminable sophistry.

One of those reasons is because our obsession with politics is unhealthy and unholy. Another is that this election season has been like watching a slow-burning dumpster fire.
Nobody would accuse Catholics of being obsessed with politics. Most of them skipped voting in the presidential primaries.
1. Filling out your ballot is a duty. Piety in place of duty isnt piety at all.
Catholic Catechism: 2240 Submission to authority and co-responsibility for the common good make it morally obligatory to pay taxes, to exercise the right to vote, and to defend ones country:
[Christians] reside in their own nations, but as resident aliens. They participate in all things as citizens and endure all things as foreigners. . . . They obey the established laws and their way of life surpasses the laws. . . . So noble is the position to which God has assigned them that they are not allowed to desert it.
