(Acts 8)

14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to Samaria. 15 When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit, 16 because the Holy Spirit had not yet come on any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money 19 and said, “Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”

20 Peter answered: “May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy the gift of God with money! 21 You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. 22 Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord in the hope that he may forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. 23 For I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin.”

24 Then Simon answered, “Pray to the Lord for me so that nothing you have said may happen to me.”

25 After they had further proclaimed the word of the Lord and testified about Jesus, Peter and John returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many Samaritan villages.

Our Father in Heaven,
Magnified, Sanctified,
and Hallowed Be Your Most Holy and Glorious Name!
You Are So Holy and Worthy of Praise and Worship,
we are Overwhelmed by Your Glory!
It is You Who Have Made The Earth and All it Contains,
from the tiniest of Creatures,
to the Greatest of the Mountains,
Forests and Deserts.
It is You Who Command the Motion of the Stars,
The Galaxies,
and the Great Singularities of Time and Space,
And it is You Who Create new Life in the Secret Place of a Mother's Womb!

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.


We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Years ago, when I used to ride my Harley every year from Boston to Washington DC for Rolling Thunder, I became very familiar with the New Jersey Turnpike. In fact, I knew EXACTLY where "Tony Soprano" was driving in the opening sequence of "The Sopranos". A running joke is that the correct response to somebody saying they are from New Jersey, is "What Exit?"

The modern State of Israel is approximately the same size as New Jersey. As we can see from this map, a Turnpike that would run straight up the middle through Samaria would have been helpful!

But, just like the Turnpike that merges into the "Trans Bronx Expressway", the Road through Samaria was a rough ride. In the First Century, People WALKED, so it made it even more treacherous!

Jesus had laid the groundwork in Samaria when He spoke to the Woman at the Well in Chapter 4 of John's Gospel. Then Philip went there and preached the Good News in Acts 8 (Earlier in this same chapter!). Now John and Peter go there to help out, and this is where they run into Simon the Sorcerer.

There is still much work to be done, but, as we shall see, John has other duties in Jerusalem, and does not stay long in Samaria.
