One accepts and adheres to the teachings of one’s faith, all of them, or one doesn’t. As such, lists are absurd.

Logically speaking, one of those sentences doesn't belong next to the other one.

And stop trying to foment an argument here!

So true! Another thing I find curious is the many times there have been threads that dispute historic Christian doctrines (i.e.; deity of Jesus Christ) and the RCs rarely join in to defend the doctrine. It's almost like they aren't interested in arguing FOR basic Christian doctrine with other non-Catholic Christians against real heresy. Why is that?

That there is consensus among us on the basic tenets of the faith regardless of denomination shows that we agree AND defend the truth even without this "decider" that supposedly guarantees unity on the rule of faith. It's a smokescreen to conclude different denominations means we all differ on the basics or that "everyone" has their own private interpretation of Scripture means there are 20,000 different ways to see the same doctrine (a ludicrous idea). It says something that we agree on those doctrines that are key to the Christian faith - like we have the SAME Holy Spirit leading us into all truth.

It says something that we agree on those doctrines that are key to the Christian faith - like we have the SAME Holy Spirit leading us into all truth.

And that we all arrived at it independent of each other, just with our own personal interpretation of the same Scripture.

It puts to rest the myth that a *decider* is needed, that someone needs to *interpret* the passage correctly for us and tell us what it means.

It puts to rest the lie that a Christian can't come to the truth just depending on the Holy Spirit.

And it's a happy thing to be walking along with and trying to catch up with you guys ahead of me on The Way of Jesus Christ!

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. (John 6:35,36)

You either believe that Christ spoke the Truth or you do not believe. It does require Faith in Jesus.

Wow, what a comedic genius you are; definitely a clone of Gracie Allen. Who knew!
Suggest you read the headline, then the post or if that’s too tough have a third grader read it to you. Then let him explain it.
And stay awake so the child doesn’t have to read it over and over again to you.

“It was natural for early Christians to think of the Eucharist as a sacrifice. The fulfillment of prophecy demanded a solemn Christian offering, and the rite itself was wrapped in the sacrificial atmosphere with which our Lord invested the Last Supper.

After the once-for-all sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, the ONLY sacrifice Christians can make is:

Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. (Hebrews 13:15)

Insults aren’t really our thing in the religion forum, not that I’m trying to moderate the forum or anything. Tell ‘em they believe a doctrine of demons but don’t tell them they’re stupid.

So not only are you a Logician in the mold of Aristotle
(or is it Kant ?); you’re also a grammar and syntax maven, w/nary an iota of pretentiousness. Indeed we are blessed!

Yeah, I'd say that #551 is a pretty good example of Catholics behaving badly. It's usually how it goes when a few find they have nothing with which to dispute the facts. Not very Christ-like to talk to people in such a nasty personal way on a Religion Forum thread. Can't you do something about it???

So, just so I understand — you only admonish those with opinions that disagree with yours?

Legatus,
I begin any post neutral about whom I’m addressing assuming that their point of view is motivated by good faith.
It’s only when these site nags aggressively get their back up when challenged, that I respond forcefully.
I have no need, nor do I label anyone stupid, as their words label themselves.

I am sure that you will tell Jesus on Judgement Day.

It'll work as good as you trying to convince Jesus that His MOM did make the promise found on YOUR brown scapular.

Those were the words of Jesus.

You brood of vipers!

More of His words.

That must be difficult for you.

IF you knew your BIBLE better, you would know that The Body JESUS now has in HEAVEN is a glorified body that does not use blood to distribute the life of HIM.

Sometimes I think you are educated, other times you show you are not educated by The Word of GOD.

The life of the creature is in the blood. The blood is not the life, the life is in the blood.

The blood from the creature body of the human Jesus was taken to Heaven and sprinkled on the Mercy Seat for you and for me. Read what Paul tells his readers about that.

GOD has a different method by which HE distributes LIFE to the glorified body, and those in Christ will be transformed in an instant from corruptible bodies with blood carrying the life, to incorruptible body not using blood to distribute the glorified body LIFE. You can read about that in the Bible, especially in The Revelation.

Your Catholic Mass is a carnal event. JESUS is no longer in a carnal body. The REAL PRESENCE of Jesus when two or more are gathered in HIS name is Spiritual. God is Spirit and must be worshipped in spirit and truth.
