In the face of an accusation—which is what the cardinals’ document is—a common criminal can remain silent and his silence cannot be used against him in a court of law. But the Catholic Church is not a court of law. It is the Household of the Faith, and the head of that household now has a duty to speak clearly, for once, to the souls who inhabit it, for whose eternal welfare he is directly responsible. If Francis continues to refuse to speak, even when four of his cardinals publicly call upon him before the whole Church to give an answer, his silence will speak for him; the truth he refuses to affirm will convict him, and the bar of history will pass sentence on his disgraceful pontificate, just as it has done with other wayward Popes.

“Cunning” Pope?

More like Commie Pope.

He does the bidding of the global elites.

I really look forward to his next pronouncement on global warming.

I look forward to reading the word “former” before his name.

Pope Francis won’t respond to the dubia because he can’t respond. If he answers honestly, his heresy will be plain to see to all the Cardinals and he’d be subject to removal from his position. If he answers in such a way as to uphold previous teaching, then his revolution would be dead. It’s lose-lose for him. Thus, he will NEVER answer the dubia, and his surrogates will declare war on these heroic cardinals. Within the next week or so, expect another classic Bergoglian sermon attacking the “Doctors of Law” who try to use facts and logic to impeded the “New Mercy” and the “God of Surprises.”

Not 100% sure about the church’s position on divorce.

It is beyond dispute the rampant divorce and the consequential breakdown of the family over the last 50 years has been a disaster that has profoundly negative effects on both society and the families of divorced spouses.

Perhaps the solution is to make divorces harder to get but make annulments easier for valid cause to allow people in profoundly bad marriages to rebuild their lives after divorce.

Not being a Catholic, I have no idea what any of this means.

But I do know I don’t particularly care for this Pope and his modernist dogma....................

Chris Ferrara rocks!

I saw malevolence on Bergoglio’s face the moment they opened the double doors. Then he KNELT for a blessing from the people, and I KNEW we had a rabble-rouser on our hands.

Line in the sand, guns lowered and sighted in.

The Trump Effect has reached the Catholic Church.

Pope Hillary, er, Pope Frank, is about to start coughing...

IMHO, the operative principle should be that the abuser desecrated and abandoned their marriage through the act(s) of abuse.

The devil, however, is in the details, specifically the definitions of those terms. For example, active physical aggression is directly verifiable, while the very nature of passive mental and emotional aggression is not.

There are few utterances of Jesus more (literally) damning than what he said to those who refused to answer one of his straightforward questions. (Was John the Baptist’s preaching of God?)

You are right. Bergoglio will not answer, because THE QUESTIONS HAVE ALREADY CONVICTED HIM OF HERESY. His papacy is about nothing but POWER.

But I do know I don’t particularly care for this Pope and his modernist dogma.

Apparently, neither do some of the Red Hats. They called him out on it, using an ecclesiastical formality that demands straight answers.

Truth.

The operative theory here is that divorce should be considered in the grave moral context that it should be.

This perspective has almost been totally lost in the “modern” world to the extent that marriage has become a disposable commodity that only considers the monetary and material price of a divorce and not the spiritual cost.

Gaming this out to it’s end....

What if he does answer them, and sticks to his guns?
Their option is to then accuse him of heresy and remove him.

Do they actually have the support to pull that off?
If not he may call their bluff and they will be sidelined.

Truly courageous to stand and ask the right questions at the right time. So much confusion is sown by this encyclical.
