Theologian: Shared Communion With Protestants Would be Blasphemy and Sacrilege
National Catholic Register ^ | January 2, 2017 | Edward Pentin

Posted on 01/02/2017 4:25:11 AM PST by BlessedBeGod

...If the Church were to change its rules on shared Eucharistic Communion it would “go against Revelation and the Magisterium”, leading Christians to “commit blasphemy and sacrilege,” an Italian theologian has warned.

Drawing on the Church’s teaching based on Sacred Scripture and Tradition, Msgr. Nicola Bux, a former consulter to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, stressed that non-Catholic Christians must have undertaken baptism and confirmation in the Catholic Church, and repented of grave sin through sacramental confession, in order to be able to receive Jesus in the Eucharist.

Msgr. Bux was responding to the Register about concerns that elements of the current pontificate might be sympathetic of a form of “open Communion” proposed by the German Protestant theologian, Jürgen Moltmann.

The concerns have arisen primarily due to the Holy Father’s own comments on Holy Communion and Lutherans, his apparent support for some remarried divorcees to receive Holy Communion, and how others have used his frequently repeated maxim about the Eucharist: that it is “not a prize for the perfect, but a powerful medicine and nourishment for the weak.”

The debate specifically over intercommunion with Christian denominations follows recent remarks by Cardinal Walter Kasper who, in a Dec. 10 interview with Avvenire, said he hopes Pope Francis’ next declaration will open the way for intercommunion with other denominations “in special cases.”

The German theologian said shared Eucharistic communion is just a matter of time, and that the Pope’s recent participation in the Reformation commemoration in Lund has given “a new thrust” to the “ecumenical process.”

Pope Francis has often expressed his admiration for Cardinal Kasper’s theology whose thinking has significantly influenced…the priorities of this pontificate, particularly on the Eucharist.

For Moltmann, Holy Communion is “the Lord's supper, not something organized by a church or a denomination”...

This is a case of misrepresenting Catholics because Catholics do NOT miss the metaphor. There is metaphor AND literal meaning simultaneously in some cases.

Except that you can't just jump between deciding what is which based on preference all within the same passage.

That is incorrect Bible interpretation and gives rise to false doctrine.

Now the Catholic demand that the flesh and blood be literal violates the rest of Scripture while the non-Catholic recognition of it as being a metaphor, like so much of His other teaching, does not.

So the consistency of Scripture with itself strengthens the non-Catholic interpretation and weakens the Catholic one.

IOW, consistency in interpretation and no violation of God's character or commands as Catholicism sets up.

And of course, it's just mighty convenient that the Catholic church demands literal eating and drinking of flesh and blood and they just happen to be the only ones who are qualified or authorized to perform the conversion.

Way to set up a monopoly and force compliance under threat of eternal damnation.

Because catholiciism conflates John 6 with the Last Supper the adherents are lost to see what the differences are. It is impossible for a lost soul who believes he/she must eat the real body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus for maintaining a saved position before God to see what the Jewish Wedding is about and why Jesus went on in John 14 to expound His Church as a bride for Whom He will return. The catholic mind is so twisted it is impossible for it to comprehend Truth when presented to it. we see it daily on these threads.

“...the prosperity gospel, also known as the health and wealth or name it and claim it gospel, treats God as Amazon.com. It falsely teaches you will always be healthy and wealthy...all you have to do is ask. If you’re not, then you’re not truly believing...you faith is weak...”

Right.

And most protestants seem to have their own version of the prosperity gospel in that they seem to think that if they feel guilty or unconfident in God’s forgiveness, that they just don’t have enough faith in Jesus.

Well the true gospel isn’t that simple, as it requires one to examine his conscience and the deeds of his life and REPENT of the sin he may find, receiving the grace of Jesus’ saving work, and resolving to sin no more with true purpose of ammendment.

If he fall again he again must REPENT of the sin, not just of unbelief, but of SIN.

I hear a lot more about this part of the gospel in the Catholic Church than I do in the protestant dialog.

That is a RED FLAG.

The people who claim all you need is to believe in Jesus often hang their hope on that simple phrase, without asking what does it truly mean to believe in Jesus.

Why do you think there are four Gospels? Jesus said a lot more than “Believe on Me.” It behooves one to frequently test one’s life against EVERY WORD of Jesus, not just the one that appears to many as a vending machine. Pop in your “faith in Jesus” and out comes a ticket to heaven?

And do you also then resent that God required of His Son to suck at the breast of his blessed mother a mere human?

WTF???

“...The brainwashing of Catholics to believe that non-Catholics automatically follow Luther is so thorough and complete as to be staggering and no amount of correction or facts will stand in the way of them believing it.”

You want me to quote scripture and verse? What if it is contained in one of the sacred books that your beloved Mr. Luther threw out?

Mr. Luther told you to reject Rome and Catholicism.
You and you rest of his huge cult believed on him and followed him.

And then really expect us to waste our time defending such a scurrilous remark; too!

Again...no. That's not the "prosperity gospel" as already illustrated.

But compare to the catholic confession...."father forgive me for I have sinned." Ok. you're good. go say 10 hail Mary's.

I don't think you'll find a true believer in Christ who says "I just believe" and that's it.

The true followers of Jesus will read and understand this.

1“Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. 2“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3“If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. 4“And you know the way where I am going.” 5Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?”

6Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

7“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”

8Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9Jesus said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

10“Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.

11“Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves.

12“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.

13“Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14“If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.

15“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

16“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; 17that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.

18“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

19“After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. 20“In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

21“He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.”

22Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?”

23Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. 24“He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.

25“These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you. 26“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.

27“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. 28“You heard that I said to you, ‘I go away, and I will come to you.’ If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced because I go to the Father, for the Father is greater than I. 29“Now I have told you before it happens, so that when it happens, you may believe. 30“I will not speak much more with you, for the ruler of the world is coming, and he has nothing in Me; 31but so that the world may know that I love the Father, I do exactly as the Father commanded Me. Get up, let us go from here. John 14:1-31 NASB

So many promises of Christ are made here.

We gain Heaven only through Christ and no one else.

He promises He will not leave us as orphans.

We have the Holy Spirit to guide us.

A believer who loves Him will keep His commandments.

Luther was possessed. You can his progression below: Here are some quotes that you demanded:

"Accordingly, we concede to the papacy that they sit in the true Church, possessing the office instituted by Christ and inherited from the apostles, to teach, baptize, administer the sacrament, absolve, ordain, etc., just as the Jews sat in their synagogues or assemblies and were the regularly established priesthood and authority of the Church. We admit all this and do not attack the office, although they are not willing to admit as much for us; yea, we confess that we have received these things from them, even as Christ by birth descended from the Jews and the apostles obtained the Scriptures from them." Sermon for the Sunday after Christ’s Ascension; John 15:26-16:4 (2nd sermon), page 265, paragraph 28, 1522.

And just years later:

"The Papacy is antichrist."

"The Papacy is the Kingdom of Babylon."

"The Papacy is the power of Nimrod."

The papacy is the spirit of antichrist! Your catholiciism teaches a nother religion, not The Ekklesia of Jesus The Christ. You are wedded to antichrist as you remain in his religion or works and focusing on ANYTHING but The Christ.

And you know this how?

What is your source for your claims?

You throw a lot of statements out there as if they were fact and you are an expert in what others believe and who or what they follow.

What is your source for your assertions?

How many prosperity gospel adherents to do you know? PERSONALLY? That you've talked to and are sure they represent mainstream thinking?

Give us something with fact, and not your unsubstantiated opinion.

Jesus Himself said it was as easy as believing. Your argument is with HIM, not so-called *Protestants*.

Luke 18:9-14 He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’

But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

John 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,

Acts 16:27-31 When the jailer woke and saw that the prison doors were open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. But Paul cried with a loud voice, “Do not harm yourself, for we are all here.” And the jailer called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas. Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Romans 10:9-13 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

Catholicism's version of salvation is based on what the person can do themselves. They have to be baptized, take communion, constantly go to confession. Its salvation is works dependent, all based on the works the individual believer does as opposed to the work that JESUS did.

Catholics talk about meriting grace but completely miss the concept that grace by it's very nature is UNMERITED. If it's merited, it negates grace and becomes wages due for work performed.

Trusting Christ for salvation, believing on Him if you will, is equivalent to throwing yourself on the mercy of the court and having your sentence, in this case death, remitted, in its entirety.

You are saved, past tense, NOW, and given the Holy Spirit as the deposit, the guarantee of your inheritance until the day of redemption, when God redeems you and you enter heaven, to be with Him forever. That happens on the day of your death.

Do we still sin? Yes, but the blood of Jesus has dealt with the penalty and God sees us clothed in the righteousness of Christ, as if we had never sinned.

That penalty being paid allows Him to deal with us as sin free, as sin free as Jesus Himself since it's HIS righteousness credited to our account which makes us worthy or eligible to enter heaven.
