Why is this news? Haven’t the COE and Catholics always “turned a blind eye” on gays and pedophiles?
It is now a cult and social club.
Both the CofE and the US and Canadian Episcopalians have strayed very far afield from Christian doctrines, and have been called on it by the much larger, conservative African Anglican dioceses. The overwhelming majority of Anglicans are African.
But the leftist branches are indifferent to the threat of schism, hoping to snatch with them the church properties, especially endowments, of the conservatives who resist their impiety.
Yet the truth of the matter is that, as good as leftists are in subverting organizations, including Christian denominations, they still lose, because most real Christians want nothing to do with leftism over Christianity. And even the leftists in those churches are quickly bored of worshiping a faded pseudo-belief, that even questions the existence and divinity of God.
So the leftist schisms quickly fade. Once the money runs out of their taken endowments, and the properties they took and defiled are sold off, they peter out, unwanted and unloved. Leftists do not give grand endowments nor bequests of money.
In 2011, for example the US Episcopal church had about 1.92m members.

The baseline for their decline is about 28,000 a year.
This is not helped by bad moral at their national headquarters, marked by a workplace culture of “fear, mistrust and resentment”.
One more step in the direction of Islamization of Europe.

The leading non-Islamic Ideology in Europe WAS Christianity.
Homosexuality is antithetical to Christianity and Judaism. It is condemned time and again in the Bible and is biologically unnatural.
By accepting it as a normative relationship, Christianity takes a moral backseat to Islam.
Studies posted HERE have indicated that Christian Churches in America which have accepted homosexuality and ordained homosexual clergy have LOST members. Christian Churches which have remained true to Christian dogma have GAINED members.
I hardly think things are any different in England.
