And the muslims will continue to keep mowing them down. Despite their wonderment.

They should not be allowed to keep murdering people unabated. Their is no virtuousness to allow them to keep doing this to others.

Perhaps it is their place to be martyrs so that the rest of us rise up. Will we rise up or just sit on our asses or go to the mall while they bear the brunt of injustice?

I think you an forgive a killer and still justly act with force and effectivenss to stop him, whether "stop" means put him in jail, put him in the hospital, or put him in the morgue. And "may God have mercy on his soul."

Catholic Christian here: Pope Benedict XVI said mercy does not take the place of justice, abolish justice or substitute for justice. If it does, it is false mercy; in fact, it makes one an enabler of evil.

False "mercy" is cruel to the innocent. It is even cruel to the perp, because it does not confront him with the truth of the repulsive evil of his deed, and his desperate need to repent or suffer everlasting horror.

Instant, automatic forgiveness is no good. It is cheap grace. It is easy-believe-ism. It is the equivalent of waving your hand, when someone else has been bayoneted in the stomach, and saying, "Well, OK, no biggie."

Not that the Amish, the Copts, etc. are wrong for publicly forgiving the savages who killed their loved ones. Far from it. It´s just that they must also confront evil with truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth: and STOP that twisted soul from doing evil again. That´s what we owe the evildoer, in the name of mercy.
