UK Foreign Office Agency Says Evangelical Christians in the Global South Should “Reinterpret” Bible
Barnabas Fund ^ | 7/17/17

A report produced by an executive agency of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office has argued that Evangelical Christians in the Global South should be expected to “reinterpret” the Bible to make it compatible with LGBT ideology. The recommendations, if implemented, would massively reverse freedom of religion across the globe.

Barnabas Aid is seriously concerned at the implications of the Foreign Office’s involvement in pushing this ideological agenda and the implications this government involvement may have on freedom of religion around the world in the future. Once it is accepted that any ideology can be imposed on those who hold conscientious disagreement with it, a very significant backward step has been taken both in relation to i) Freedom of Religion or Belief and ii) human rights generally. Barnabas Aid has produced an analysis of the proposals and called on the UK Foreign Office to institute an inquiry into Wilton Park, the Foreign Office agency which produced the report.

The “UK Foreign Office” can stuff it. The Bible cannot be “reinterpreted” for their agenda. It stands.

What wicked apostates!

It cannot be reinterpreted. It would have to be rewritten. That’s not possible.

If G*d said homosexuals were “abominations”, how would the ‘por-poofters’ have that adjective reinterpreted?

Bah! HUMBUGGERY!

“For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature;

and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.”

(New Testament, Romans 1: 26, 27)

Why don’t they concern themselves with telling Muslims how to “re-interpret” the Koran and Hadith?

That office needs to be reminded that the sun set on the British Empire a long time ago.

Even back when they were making Yes, Minister the pro-Islamic sentiments in some sectors of British society (the clergy in particular) were the stuff of jokes. Now it’s not funny.

"global south" refers to the Anglican church in Africa and South America, where it is far more healthy, orthodox and growing rapidly. Not to be disrespected.

They need to mind their own blankety blank business and do the job that is theirs.

It goes to show that government has far too much power when those who work for it presume to think that they have the right to go around telling others what to do and what to think.

Such is the way of the State Church. They’ve always gone right down the primrose path to perdition on political grounds.

We’ve seen it with the Church Of England, we’ve seen it with the Lutherans both here and in WWII era Germany, we’ve seen it with the Roman Catholic Church.

Funny how these three are taking part in ongoing negotiations to be in communion with one another. Motivated by political power no doubt, since the Spirit seems to have gone out of them some time ago, only residing in a remnant of each clinging to orthodoxy.

The will to political power within a church is corrupting and corrosive. The will to religious power within a polity is even worse.
