As I read the Bible for the first time all the way through, I actually found myself delighted when I would recognize stories, songs, idioms, expressions, and practices from our culture. I send out cards each week to my SS Class and include on the address side two dingbats with "Answers-Sunday" at the bottom. You are right about the expressions that were first in the Bible.
