ITALY FOLLOWS POLAND’S LEAD, PRAYS ‘ROSARY ON THE BORDER’

Faithful Catholics in Italy are fasting on bread and water and praying the Rosary together throughout the country.

On Friday, the 100th anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima, the Italian Association Accompanying Marian Sanctuaries (Associazione Italiana Accompagnatori Santuari Mariani, or AIASM) sponsored a nationwide day of fasting, as well as a Rosary.

Organizers called it "Rosary at the Border" and praised the Rosary as "the most powerful peace initiative" for their country and the world.

The event's inspiration came from the "Rosary to the Borders" rally in Poland on October 7. Poland's Rosary to the Borders drew well over 1 million participants, making it the largest prayer event in Europe since the 2016 World Youth Day in Kraków, Poland.

Leaders of last week's "Rosary at the Border" never said it was about defending Poland's immigration policies. However, the Polish government has stood in defiance of the European Union's mandated quota of immigrants from North Africa and the Middle East. Therefore, the immigration issue was likely on the minds of many participants.

International media had a field day with the story, insisting that the event was "controversial" and "Islamophobic."

In contrast, the stated goal of the Italy prayer initiative is "to ask Our Lady to save Italy and Europe from Islamic nihilism and from the denial of the Christian faith."

Our Lady teaches us that the Rosary is the most powerful weapon against evil and that, along with fasting, it can also stop wars and natural disasters. Tweet

The event's organizers asked participants to make a good confession, be in a state of grace and fast on bread and water all day. They encouraged the faithful to gather in churches

The AIASM organizers described the event as "following the teachings of Mary and following the beautiful example of our Polish brothers."

The event description also noted, "Our Lady teaches us that the Rosary is the most powerful weapon against evil and that, along with fasting, it can stop wars and natural disasters."

Since the Italian peninsula is often called "the boot," owing to its boot-like shape on maps, one Polish news outlet put some clever wordplay in the headline, which reads, "The Italians fastened the 'boot' with the Rosary today."

In Poland, the Rosary crusade on October 7 featured hundreds of churches and other locales along the nation's borders. Friday's event in Italy, on the other hand, was not literally 'on the border' — at least not to the same extent — but nonetheless sought to espouse the same mentality, asking God to bless and defend the nation.

You never answered the question; and now you have switched you accusations of schismatic to heresy.

So it appears you did not know the difference between the two until just now.

As a Catholic who grew up with the Latin Mass I don’t recall being taught to ‘worship’ her. Honor, yes. If God made her special, shouldn’t we consider her so?

That would be you who has "never answered the question".

What part of a blend of cause and effect do you not understand? :^')

It appears to me that you are desperate.

I’m sure you weren’t taught it’s worship as that would go against the Bible. Roman Catholics have to change the terms to make it ok. If you’re kneeling before idols of Mary,’praying to her, relying upon her for answered prayers and salvation you’re worshipping her.

Do you guys ever stop to think that the saints in heaven are always perfectly in the presence of God, so that anything a Christian asks of any of them can only be granted in and through God's divine power and totally according to His will -- because nobody in heaven can do anything any other way ... ?

So anyone who "depends on Mary for their salvation" and knows what they're talling about -- taking your word that there's really someone out there who does that -- can only mean that they depend on God through Mary, because that's the only way Mary ever does anything.

Y'all act like Mary lives in Cleveland or something. No: she lives forever in heaven, or Jesus just wasted his time on earth. If I ask someone on earth for something sinful, or to commit a sin for me or with me, they very well might. The saints in heaven never would and never can.

Is heaven real to you at all? Is it home, or just an abstraction to which you pay occasional lip service?

I know we have no direction to pray to anyone other than God in the New Testament.

So anyone who "depends on Mary for their salvation" and knows what they're talling about -- taking your word that there's really someone out there who does that -- can only mean that they depend on God through Mary, because that's the only way Mary ever does anything.

O immaculate Virgin, we are under thy protection, and therefore we have recourse, to thee alone, and we beseech thee to prevent thy beloved Son, who is irritated by our sins, from abandoning us to the power of the devil... Thou (Mary) art my only hope. . . . Lady in heaven, we have but one advocate, and that is thyself, and thou alone art truly loving and solicitous for our salvation ... My Queen and my Advocate with thy Son, whom I dare not approach. Alphonsus de Liguori, The Glories of Mary, Burns and Oates, Ld., 1868, pp. 115, 249

According to Eadmer (A.D. 1060–1124), an English monk and student of Anselm, “sometimes salvation is quicker if we remember Mary's name then if we invoked the name of the Lord Jesus...[who] does not at once, answer anyone who invokes him, but only does so after just judgment. But if the name of his mother Mary is invoked, her merits intercede so that he is answered even if the merits of him who invoked her do not deserve it.” Through her “the elements are renewed, the netherworld is healed, the demons are trodden underfoot, men are saved and angels are restored.” — Andrew Taylor, “Three medieval manuscripts and their readers,” University of Pennsylvania press; page 173

Whatever Roman Catholicism teaches about Mary is to be questioned. Sadly, much of it is in error.

Yes...it is very real and I look forward to being there one day....based on faith in only Jesus and His promises.

..”Mary would be appalled at how Roman Catholicism worships her”..

True ...and Jesus wouldn’t be too happy some think beads hold some sort of magical prayer power...even Voo Doo priests think that way.

...” they depend on God ...”through Mary”.. because that’s the only way Mary ever does anything”....

Do you realize what your statement really is saying? Mary has no power here on earth.

God made it very clear and with certainty......”there is ONE mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus”...1 Timothy 2:5

Furthermore....Jesus said....” No one comes to the Father except through me.”...John14:6

Don’t waste your time with that poster. He trolls Catholic threads looking to instigate arguments about Mary. I tried having a reasonable conversation about this on another thread but all he wants to do is prove that Catholics are heretics for praying to Mary.

Meh...I know a no-win situation when I see one and no one can tell me what I believe. In a world full of real heretics and evil how can anyone find fault with the rosary??
