Was JPII Under Demonic Influence?

Many will see the title to this post and assume that it’s hyperbole. Others, like perhaps most regular readers of this space, will answer the question aloud in the affirmative even before reading what follows.

After all, it certainly wasn’t the influence of Almighty God that moved Pope John Paul II to orchestrate the Assisi events, to take part in pagan rituals, and to publicly pray for the intercession of St. John the Baptist to “protect Islam.”

Even so, the thing that moves me to pose this question here today is a video (below) that a friend recently shared on Facebook. It shows footage of the Polish pope at a gathering with high school students in New York at Madison Square Garden in 1979.

Please, take a look.

While neo-conservatives, the same who, like Karl Keating, will even go so far as to explain away the aforementioned prayer to St. John the Baptist to “protect Islam,” likely consider this a moment of harmless jocularity on the part of a charming pope, it strikes me as nothing less than a sign of the diabolical.

JPII helped Reagan destroy communism.

End of story.

publicly pray for the intercession of St. John the Baptist

Well, did St. John "intercede"?

That should tell you something.

The whole catholic religion has been under demonic influence since its inception in the 3rd century. Most of its “traditions” are a result of pagan influence. Fortunately, the Lord opened my eyes to the truth, and I escaped it, but I have a lot of family members who are now deceased who did not escape it.

“JPII helped Reagan destroy communism.

Yeah I was like in the short take who is JPII? It’s shocking the cranks and haters who create this stuff.

John Paul II was one of Christ’s most important soldiers who took down one of the biggest evils of the century or in all of human history.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it you cranks.

If St. John interceded, that could prove that the pope's prayer was effective.

“John Paul II was one of Christ’s most important soldiers who took down one of the biggest evils of the century or in all of human history.”

He was a great man and a great pope.

Unlike the current bozo in the vatican.

Everyone and all religions in history are under also demonic influence constantly. Everyone except Jesus (and, Catholics would add, Mary) have succumbed. Is your denomination THE exception?

Also, islam wasn’t the threat it became after the fall of the Soviet Union. I remember Gore Vidal writing that the fall directly influenced the rise of islam which was why he continued to support the iron curtain. He was a strange man, very left-wing, but sometimes he found his way to the truth.

I have wondered why JPII kissed a Koran. I’d sooner kiss Mein Kampf. Both books are vile, but the Koran is overtly demonic.

Have you read Belloc’s predictions about the resurgence of Islam? His observations were prescient.

It is unusual for a Pole to appear accommodating to Islam. That may be because people of JPII’s generation saw communism as the primary threat.

And even canonized saints are not perfect human beings. Unfortunately, commentary like that in the posted article actually tends to support the current pope’s endless hectoring about rigid Catholics.

We have a contingent of them right here on FR.

The OP mentions Islam....I can’t make it Catholic Caucus. I wanted to do so, but realized right away that I could not.

To the left he must have seemed like it.

One of the best popes in history.

And now we have one of the worst.
