A South Carolina man who has been previously accused of sexual misconduct and of leading a cult in Colleton County was arrested Monday.
Ralph Gordon Stair, 84, was arrested by the Colleton County Sheriffs Department and the State Law Enforcement Division on charges of assault with intent to commit first-degree criminal sexual conduct, third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, kidnapping, first-degree burglary, second-degree burglary and three counts of criminal sexual conduct, according to a news release by the sheriffs department.
Stair, the founder of Overcomer Ministry in Colleton County, has been the subject of a state and federal criminal investigation since October, the Post and Courier reported.
Live 5 News reported in October that Stair had been accused of preying on young girls and women. The station reported a video that surfaced apparently showed Stair cupping the breast of a 12-year-old girl during church service, adding Im gonna touch those things till nobody else can touch em, Live 5 News reported.
ABC 4 News described him as an end times evangelist, prophesying the imminent return of Jesus Christ.
A brochure from the ministrys website states that about 70 saints live at his farm near Walterboro, where they are set apart from the world to be able to live a sanctified life.
We live in community homes of mobile trailers for each family or accommodations for brothers or sisters with common baths and common eating, all seeking to live together in love for God and each other, the brochure states. We go no where, no shopping or trips to see what have you. Your life will be here on the farm until Jesus comes.
A SLED background check revealed Stair was arrested on several charges, including of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to ABC 4 News. But he was ultimately convicted of simple assault.
Again?
I discovered Brother Stair in about 1990 on mainstream Christian radio when he bought 15 min segments.
He’d always say, “this is voice...of the last day prophet of God”.
“We live in community homes of mobile trailers....”
That’s not much of a surprise.
Mmmmmm, community home of mobile trailers? Sounds interesting.....

I’ll say........
He used to be everywhere on the shortwave bands.
In approximately 1998, Brother Stair was outfitting a ship to be a pirate radio station so he could have more air time and keep the coffers flowing. The plan was to only broadcast in international waters where the FCC has no jurisdiction.
The radio equipment was being worked on by the radio engineer in port. The transmitter emissions were being monitored by the FCC. As soon as the radio engineer turned the transmitter on in port, The boat was raided by about a dozen federal agents with arms drawn. The transmitter was not licensed.
I think the outcome was no one was charged, but the ship and transmitters were confiscated. I can find no mention of it on the internet, but I recall seeing the reports several years ago.
And bought time on AM stations often in the wee hours, like 1530 in Cincy
Yes Brother Stair has been accused in the past, Not sure if he was ever proven guilty.
It’s time to drain the “clergy swamp” not only of sexual predators and harassers but false clerics who are not preaching the Word of God (Bible) as truth and are instead adding their own opinions/practices.
Still is
Another Protestant?
What is the point of starting a cult if you can’t do whatever with the women?
Oh no . . . not "Brother Stair!" He's all shortwave radio has left now!
You ain't kidding.

I love the Internet, but it killed international shortwave broadcasting. In the 70s, 80s, and 90s the shortwave was full of variety. Now it's a desert.
“Another Protestant?”
Your king in a pointy hat is a communist. And his lackeys can’t keep their hands off of little boys.
William Cooper says hi.
Another old shortwave listener from back in the day?
For decades I dreamed of owning a digital shortwave radio that had the entire shortwave spectrum. When I finally got one, there was nothing on any more.
I still have my QSL card collection and memories of "Happy Station," HCJB in Quito, Ecuador, The Voice of Turkey, Deutesche Welle, the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service, and so much, much more.
