What would things look like if Satan really took control of a city? Over a half century ago, Presbyterian minister Donald Grey Barnhouse offered his own scenario in his weekly sermon that was also broadcast nationwide on CBS radio.
Barnhouse speculated that if Satan took over Philadelphia, all of the bars would be closed, pornography banished, and pristine streets would be filled with tidy pedestrians who smiled at each other. There would be no swearing. The children would say, Yes, sir and No, maam, and the churches would be full every Sunday . . . where Christ is not preached.

Did you know that “church “ is not in the Bible. In 1611 the King James English translators , in order to assert control over Christians fashion a non existent translation for Ekklesia , the Greek word meaning the “”called out” ( believers). There was never the word or concept of “church” for the first 1,600 years after Christ. Why now? Don’t tell me Ekklesia meant “gathering or assembly” either. The Greek word for that was “Sanhedrin” . The English translated the word originally to “Circe” or the Scotch “kirke’ meaning “circle “which was the pagan worship formation. Church was never intended as a Biblical concept.
See you in Church in 2018
I’ll be there. It’s the comforting port in the storm.
In other words if this world is your home you
can enjoy your stay a little longer if you live
Like mister clean.
And any one who reads tther Bible can see that the
the no smoking and no drinking preachers are liars
for the most part.
I thought the object of going to church was to learn
the gospel and get our hearts right with God so as to
avoif our original destination which is heall.
But the devil’s workers, the religious leaders of Christ’s
day taught the same thing so maybe you are right.
And it can make ETERNAL life a bit more pleasant; too!
While I’ve never seen the studies, which liberals always want to see to have documentation, I have a feeling that church attendance is positively correlated with many positive factors.
In addition to what has been noted, what does everyone think about criminal activity committed by those who attend church regularly? How many murderers, rapists, youth gang members who commit assorted crimes, embezzlers, etc. — How many such people are also regular churchgoers and/or devoutly religious in their faith? And how do such numbers compare to the general population? I have a feeling that very few in our faith communities fall into the criminal category.
