The old testament foretells the new
Have you heard of Melchizedek? From Genesis we were told of the sacrifice of bread and wine for our salvation. It is far more than one verse. Read Scripture. Read the words spoken. Not the meanings you have been taught by men.
All I have been quoting is Scripture. Please read the words of Scripture and believe them.
This is not a catholic thing. This is a Bible thing. Why do you not believe the clear words of Scripture, except for the fact you have been taught otherwise?
This is my body means this is my body. Why do you believe other than the clear words of Scripture? Where in Scripture does 'is' mean represents?
So He was made out of bread?
I don't know...That's what Jesus said...And he even used the Greek word for a loaf of bread...
So if we have to literally eat Jesus, it makes much more sense that we would eat bread, since he said he was bread...Jesus never said he transubstantiated the bread into bloody meat...He just broke it up, passed it out and said, eat me, dig in...
No where did Jesus tell anyone that they would be able to turn a loaf of bread into his bloody flesh...And Jesus never told anyone to turn his raw flesh into bread so it would apparently be more palatable...
No you weren't...There was no sacrifice of bread and wine...Melchizedek's passing out of bread and wine had nothing to do with salvation...It was a celebration honoring Abraham for killing a bunch of people and capturing his brother Lot...Why would you make that up???
The old testament foretells the new
No it does not...The Old Testament prophecies about the first coming of Jesus...The New Testament doesn't start until the death of Jesus, according to the New Testament...Beyond that the O.T. is silent, except for its main topic; 'The Jews and the future kingdom which takes place after the second coming of Jesus'...The Old Testament is silent about the church...It wasn't revealed to them...
The Old Testament was loaded with priests...All from the tribe of Levi...Their job was to slaughter animals to provide blood to be offered to God for atonement for the peoples' sins...In the New Testament, there was ONE priest who himself became the sole sacrifice, once for all, for all time...Jesus put the priesthood out of business...
In the Old Testament priests had to go into the Temple beyond the veil and sprinkle the animal blood...They had a rope tied to them so if they got into trouble, they could be drug out with the rope...Dangerous place there in the presence of God...
In the New Testament, We Christians are now the Temple...I suspect you don't have a clue what I'm talking about...We don't need a priest to access Jesus...We don't need a building made with human hands...We are the Temple of God and God resides within us...I wouldn't waste 20 seconds hunting for a wafer that some illegitimate priest claimed to have forced Jesus into...
Jesus went to heaven after the resurrection to sit down at the right hand of God...He hasn't budged since...
Why do you believe other than the clear words of Scripture that by BELIEVING in Jesus Christ we have everlasting life and will not come under condemnation but have passed from death into life? He said it is by believing/faith in Him that we eat the bread of life and work the works of God. Don't you believe what He said? Jesus spoke well of those who deny His words, "For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed." Only hearts waxed gross and ears dull of hearing and closed eyes can continue to assert Jesus LITERALLY wants us to eat his human flesh and blood. Do you understand what "literal" means?
Now it's your turn to answer the question I asked that you dodged:
You are correct BB. The unregenerate, natural man, without the Holy Spirit, cannot in any way, understand spiritual principles. Without the Holy Spirit's guidance, it is impossible. That is why there are so many false doctrines floating around.
If these doctrines are not from God, there is only one other person the doctrines can come from, and you know exactly who I am talking about.
Affirmative. When I was a catholic, I DID NOT have a genuine faith in Jesus Christ. I do now.
It is logical to trust that God will not leave us to fend for ourselves in our faith. God said that we can “reason together” with Him. The Holy Spirit would also not contradict the Holy Scriptures He had already revealed through the prophets. It’s for these reasons that I have confidence in who I believe in and what I believe about Him. My faith in is my Savior and Lord and not in a church.
Exactly.
That is something that apparently cannot be stated enough.
God will NOT contradict Himself.
Nor would Jesus ever command anyone to sin or violate the law that reflects His holiness.
.
It really is amazing that so many people still cling to the RCC because of ethnicity. Just read the Bible and you’ll leave and never look back.
As noted in Hebrews....but not Roman Catholicism.
And to think a human being (a catholic priest) can be given authority from another human being (their pope)who was elected to his office by a bunch of other priests (many of whom are practicing homosexuals) to call down Jesus off that throne to take up residence in a wafer is absolutely ludicrous...
Satan couldn't order Jesus around but a catholic priest can??? And then to claim even if it's a boy raping/molesting queer, Jesus will still submit to his orders...
And based on what??? A literal, Spiritual command in the scriptures that no Catholic is able to discern without being born again...
And we haven't even touched on what Rome says about Mary telling Jesus what to do and He just does it.
Well, in my case, the RCC was its own worst enemy. I was a very rebellious person. I was told I couldnt read the Bible, without a priest to interpret it for me. That was like putting a red cape in front of a bull. I just said horse hockey, and starting reading the Bible for myself.
From there, it was just a short time till I bolted. 😊
Believe me...I know how FR works...lol
That is a terrible blog....is it yours? Whoever it belongs to needs to take the thing down.
It is not mine; blogging is something I’m not interested in doing. I came across it when following aMPU’s suggestion to seek and find his version of the truth, hoping to find stronger reasons for believing as he does. Based on the title, questions-for-christians-did-jesus-mean-this-is-my-body, I expected the answer in the blog to be no. Quite the opposite, I found out; it was more in line with what FatherofFive articulated, so I thought he might like to see it.
I would expect that you would think it’s a terrible blog, but I was surprised and a little disappointed to see you state that whoever it belongs to needs to take the thing down. If it is what he truly believes and he wants to share it with others, he should have the right to post it. Isn’t that what we as FReepers believe?
Peace,
Rich
True...it's the person's blog. He can share whatever he wants.
My problem with it concerns the accuracy of the facts posted. They were "selective" shall we say in what was presented.
