In a 12-minute YouTube video, international evangelist Luis Palau revealed yesterday that he has been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.
After Palau, 83, and his wife Patricia had a super busy fall traveling around the world sharing the Good News like they always do, explained his son Kevin Palau, the evangelist returned from a long trip to the United Kingdom in December with kind of a chest cold that wouldnt go away.
We finally got Dad to go into the doctor, said Kevin, president and CEO of the Luis Palau Association. And to our surprise, the early report we got, just before Christmas, was that there was some cancer in one of Dads lungs.
A few days ago, the family learned that the cancer is in stage 4the most advanced stage, which for lung cancer has (in general) a five-year survival rate of less than 10 percent.
Thats the reality we are dealing with now, said Kevin. [Were] praying about what that means. Mostly we are asking for peoples prayers.
It was a shock, said Luis. I havent been in a hospital one night, except when I broke a bone back in 1984 after Mission to London.
The first thing you do, in my case, is cry. I think, oh wow, I could be gone in a few months, said the senior Palau. But he doesnt feel panic or horror.
Many people are praying that the Lord would do a miracle, he said. It would literally take a miracle. Medically speaking
stage 4 is big time.

Well he won’t be asking for”seed” much longer.
Just said a prayer for him and his family. I always enjoy his insights. I had no idea he was 83; he speaks with the energy of a much younger man.
I didn’t realize he was that old.
Prayers up for him.
Lung cancer is a nasty way to go.
Does he really do that?
I thought it was just shysters like Copeland et al.
Prayers...
Question: why does 83 seem a bit young to me?
I could swear 70 seemed old to me, years ago...
I think they all do.
I think they all do.
The older I get, the younger old people look.
Shame.
I thought he was more respectable than that.
Anyways, from what I recall hearing, with lung cancer you slowly drown in the fluid that collects in your lungs.
I hate feeling short of breath even just from allergies, not even full blown asthma. It’s very scary.
Was he a smoker ?
I’m with you on that and I had not heard him accused of any of the usual things that the shyster televangelist frauds have been accused of.
I’ve heard that in many countries where people don’t smoke the lung cancer rate is still pretty high.
It appears that breathing in the smoke from smoky cooking and heating fires indoors in poorly ventilated third world hovels, can cause lung cancer just as easily.
I wonder what the conditions he grew up in were like.
Radon is another common cause of lung cancer. Lead, cadmium, and a host of other factors. If you have lungs, you can get lung cancer.
Heard him speak in my town before - He was authentic and Biblically sound
From Wikipedia:
Luis Palau Jr. (born November 27, 1934) is an international Christian evangelist living in the Portland area in Oregon, United States. He was born in Argentina and moved to Portland in his mid-twenties to enroll in a graduate program in Biblical studies.
Palau had a long and close relationship with evangelist Billy Graham, and has been characterized by many as Graham’s successor. “One of the worlds leading evangelical Christian figures,”[1] he is known for his strong appeal to young people, and for his efforts to reach out to secular leaders to address issues like homelessness.
In 2007, he was estimated to have shared the message of Jesus Christ with 25 million people in 70 nations.[
Why are you trying to discredit him?
Have you even heard him?
I think not!
I was at one of his events, great speaker. He recommends teenagers read a few verses from Proverbs every day. Can’t go wrong doing that.
