I never understood why a couple would want a government to sanction their relationship. I would be happy to have the govt not know i specifically exist.
I once said that to my state representative when he sponsored a bill to require registration of home school families.
I lived in Michigan at the time and reminded him of the recent news of the 19% graduation rate of Detroit public schools and that was something he had jurisdiction over, not my family.
