And while one can argue that the pope has excommunicated himself, yet formal action is required (or else, as with latae sententiae excommunication of lay persons, priests and laity may disagree on whether pone is. But no one can depose a pope without his approval.

The man-made rules and regulations of Roman Catholicism are so vast the average Roman Catholic has no clue as to how their denomination really operates. For if they did, there would not be one word of criticism from the lowly members.
