VATICAN CITY (AP) Pope Francis' reported comments to a gay man that "God made you like this" have been embraced by the LGBT community as another sign of Francis' desire to make gay people feel welcomed and loved in the Catholic Church.
Juan Carlos Cruz, the main whistleblower in Chile's clerical sex abuse and cover-up scandal, said Monday he spoke to Francis about his homosexuality during their recent meetings at the Vatican. The pope invited Cruz and other victims of a Chilean predator priest to discuss their cases last month.
Cruz said he told Francis how Chile's bishops used his sexual orientation as a weapon to try to discredit him, and of the pain the personal attacks had caused him.
"He said, 'Look Juan Carlos, the pope loves you this way. God made you like this and he loves you,'" Cruz told The Associated Press.
The Vatican declined to confirm or deny the remarks in keeping with its policy not to comment on the pope's private conversations. The comments first were reported by Spain's El Pais newspaper.

This Pope is an utter idiot making a mockery of God and Christianity.....
Nice !
The fake pope should be impeached.
Any man or false messiah can claim anything, but only the creators words are sanctified. Leviticus is clear on this mater.
God made you like this?
What about other inclinations, such as sexual predation towards children? God made molesters that way too. Where exactly are lines to be drawn in these areas?
Wait, he was molested as a youth and now embraces homosexuality?
So what is his beef?
Homosexuality is a mental disorder. Encouraging it is unwise and making excuses for the abusers is unwise.
Being selective about the sins that need to be excoriated while we love them sinners? Perhaps some didn’t get the Word that even the least of sins is as bad as having committed them all - so, which sins would you like for people to remind you of each day?
What about just simple repentance and going to confession?
What next?
Will this pope claim that Jesus did not say, “Go and sin no more.” He really said, “Go and be a good whore.”
Is this any different when God told Adam and Eve not to eat the fruit of a given tree?
Yes God loves the sinner, yet abhors the sin. A person chooses whether to follow God’s advice or not.
One can follow God or Satan. We chose.
Chose who you will serve.
The Bible is not essential to be a good Catholic. Only the Catechism.
The Catholic catechism is to the pope as the U.S. Constitution is the Judge Ginsberg.
I know a lot of Catholics but none of them are into the bible at all. One Catholic couple I know has already attended 2 same sex marriages and see no problem with that.
I am not speaking from personal experience, but yes you are right, the sacrament of Confession is very powerful.
It is a question that one might want to have an exorcist answer directly.
