John 2

Jesus Changes Water Into Wine

2 On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”

4 “Woman,[a] why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.”

5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.[b]

7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.

8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”

They did so, 9 and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”

11 What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs through which he revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

12 After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days.

As we go through the Gospel of John, we are introduced to Jesus First Public Miracle…turning water into wine.

Our Father in Heaven,
You Alone are LORD,
You Alone are Sovereign.
You Are The Desire of All Nations!
Nations hunger for Glory, But You Own it All.
You Own All The Gold and Silver that are the Standards of Nations' Economies,
That Back Exploration and Commerce,
And Caused Rivalries and Conflict throughout History.
And Yet, what is it that the Nations really desire?
Without You, the Nations are Just a drop in the Bucket.
For unless YOU build the House, they that labor on it work in vain.
Blessed is the Nation whose God is Yahweh.

We Pray For The Peace of Jerusalem,
According to Your Will and Promise.
We Pray For the People and Leaders of Israel,
that They Will Look to You for the Protection
and Prosperity of their Nation.
We Also Pray For Revival in our own Beloved USA.



We Pray For The Leaders of Our Nation,
May They Be Inspired and Led By You,
And Please Guide Them in All Things.

Over 40 years ago, a Jazz Musician friend invited my husband and me to dinner at his place. He said he wanted to "share a wonderful business opportunity with me that will change my life forever!". Well that sounded real good, so we went and were introduced to a Multi-Level Marketing Company that sold laundry soap. It was made in the USA and had no phosphates and was all natural, so it really appealed to us. Knowing that I would be the one doing all the work involved was not a problem, as I am a self-starter and like to make things "work". Anyway, we signed up, bought the kit, and I proceeded to sell laundry soap to all my family and friends. The only way one could really make money, though, was to get others to sell FOR you, and I could NOT make that happen. It is just not in my nature. So once all my family and friends bought their laundry soap, my "business" came to a screeching halt.

Years later, as I was working in a Christian Book Store, a customer offered me a "Free Facial". This sounded great, because, as an avid motorcyclist, I had accumulated a lot of road dirt in my pores that ordinary cleansing didn't help. A deep facial sounded good. Well, of course the facial came with a "Business Opportunity". And since this one was being offered by a Christian Sister, it HAD to work, right? After exhausting my family and friends with "make-up parties" and "free facials" I ran out of steam. No Pink Cadillac for ME!

My late hubby inherited a sum of money from an uncle, and he generously gave it all to me to produce my first solo CD. My co-writers were the best in the business, my drummer was FAMOUS, and my producer had worked for Atlantic Records. Recording time was extremely expensive, and since CDs were new technology, they cost a bundle too. I had cassettes made as well because not everybody had CD Players at the time. But, once family and friends all had their copy, I was stuck with boxes and boxes of CDs and Cassettes, under the bed, under the coffee table, in the closet, holding up a corner of the couch where a leg had broken off, etc. When I moved to Florida, I had a big yard sale and gave away a free CD or Cassette with every purchase, just so I wouldn't have to schlepp all those boxes to Ft. Lauderdale.

As with Multi-Level-Marketing, First Forays into the Arts sometimes stop short with Family and Friends. However, Jesus chose to initiate His Ministry OUTSIDE this blessed circle, and He had already called some Disciples when He was invited to a Family Wedding. This was not, for Him, the time or place to do a big public miracle, and the Miracle of Turning Water Into Wine was an act of kindness, both for His Mother and for The Bride and Groom, to save them from embarrassment. However, it still became a meaningful gesture, as the big ceremonial water jugs were a symbol of the LAW, and the wine a symbol of Jesus Blood which would be shed for our sins later on. Not a single action or gesture was "wasted".

After this Family Miracle, one would assume that "Friends and Family" would be first in line to get what Jesus was giving, but as we read on, we will see that "Friends and Family" were the very last to receive the Message. At one point, His "Friends and Family" thought He had gone crazy! To them Jesus said:

“A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.” 5 Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6 And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching. Mark 6:4-6
