And so we pray today for all American denominations, pastors, congregations and individuals struggling with the devil's call to hedonism, immorality, gender confusion and sexual irresponsibility, in no particular order: the Episcopal Church USA, the Roman Catholic Church, the Presbyterian Church USA, the Episcopal Church USA, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, United Church of Christ, the Friends General Conference, the United Methodist Church, non-Orthodox sects of Judaism, and all other denominations that are in confusion about the central, pivotal position in all of Creation of faithful marriage under Your blessing, without which everything falls apart.
For You are not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints (1 Cor. 14:33).
You are a God of mercy and grace, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty (Ex. 34:6-7).
Heal our broken churches, schools and media, gracious Lord God, that they might honor Your eternal virtues of chastity outside of marriage, faithfulness within marriage, and steadfast family ties that are the lifeblood of a healthy nation—a nation that has fences, doors and walls to protect the ones we love within our boundaries, and admit trusted guests through narrow gates.
Lead our young people to rediscover chastity outside of marriage and fidelity within, bringing up our male youth to be responsible, to respect and to court suitable mates, and our young women to be respectable and confident to be courted and selective—the only real antidotes to the scourge of abortion. May the overwhelming majority of American children of every race or background be conceived by a married man and woman committed to love, guide, shelter and bring up that child to honor You in Spirit and in truth.
For wide is the way that leads to destruction, but narrow is the gate that leads to the kingdom. (Matt. 7:13-14)
