Those are assuredly poor illustrations by Charles Stanley. However, John 6 is but one place that assures us that Christ does not “lose” those who are His. 1 John 2:19 deals with the professing who were NEVER saved. Scripture supports the perseverance of the saints and the inability of those saved to “keep themselves” (Salvation is of God from beginning to end). It does not confuse the professing believer who was NEVER His with those who are as Stanley appears to have done there.

Neither John 6 or 1 Jh 2:19 does not teach the Christian’s salvation is unconditional and cannot be lost under any circumstance.

Jude 1:21 commands the Christian to “keep yourselves” in the love of God putting accountability and responsibility upon the Christian to keep himself. It therefore IS possible for Christians to “keep themselves”.

James 4:7 “SUBMIT YOURSELVES therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you”
Acts 2:40 “SAVE YOURSELVES from this untoward generation.”

Charles Stanley followers still have his quotes to deal with.
