Thoughts on The Timing Of The Rapture

By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:4-6)

The famous “Faith Chapter” in the book of Hebrews, begins with two Saints, Abel and Enoch as examples of faith which we are to imitate. Faith is the point, for faith is the only way to please God.

I once asked the LORD, ‘Why Faith? Why is that what you require?” I believe I received several answers in the form of scripture and impressions, from the LORD. God requires faith, because we simply cannot save ourselves. Only God can save our souls, no one can redeem themselves, therefore Faith is required, because faith glorifies God and not man.

Another reason for the requirement of faith that came to me, is that our problems began when we quit believing in the goodness of God. Adam and Eve were willing to entertain a false and degraded notion of God, that He was holding something back that would be good for the first couple. The Serpent bore false witness about the LORD, and they believed it.

The way back? It has to be faith. We must repent and believe again in the goodness of God.

The “hall of faith” begins with Abel and Enoch. One Saint who was murdered for his faith, and for bearing witness to God in a hostile world. There would be literally millions upon millions who would follow in his footsteps, being willing to let go of their life rather than deny the truth of God.

The other Saint, Enoch, was a man who lived in a kind of “end times scenario” living in the time leading up to the flood. It was a day of Apostasy, but Enoch walked with God, until God took Him home. He didn’t die , He was raptured. God took him home, to be with himself.

Faith was required of each of them.

I believe that we also live in an end-time. I have no doubt that Jesus is coming, and in our lifetime. What makes us unique is the re-emergence of the nation of Israel, in 1948, in fulfillment of the prophecies about the last of the last days. All of the prophets pre-supposed that there would be a national Israel, and a Jewish occupied city of Jerusalem, as well as a controversy over Judea, (The West bank) which would engulf the whole world.

The burden of the word of the Lord for Israel, saith the Lord, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him. Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it. (Zechariah 12:1-3)

Which brings us back to our two Saints at the beginning of Hebrews 11. One died, He was martyred for his witness to God. The other one did not die. He was Raptured. Both of these Saints lived by Faith and Pleased God.

I believe that this speaks to us in our generation.

No doubt. many of us will end up dying. Perhaps some of us will be given an opportunity to be martyred. We are Saints and love God, but all things being equal, unless the LORD returns, we will die, one way or another.

(Of course, Christians don’t really die, they “go to sleep”) but the real point is that Faith is the only way to please God.

But according to the scriptures, there is a unique end-times event, coming, as I hope I have pointed out in this series, called the Rapture, or “Our gathering together unto Him”, “the Episynagogue” and Jesus coming to “take us where (He)…is, unto himself”. The LORD is coming to snatch us off the earth with a swift and irresistable power”.

To participate in such an event is a rare honor among the countless Millions of Saints who believed in Jesus before us.

But whether we die, or are martyred, o whether we are raptured, the real point is that we must live our lives by Faith, which is the only way to please God.

This is why I do not enter into the countless discussions as to the timing of the Rapture. “Will The Rapture be pre- ,mid , or post Tribulation”?

Honesty, the only things I am sure about the Rapture at all are that it is:

* For God’s Saints only, and the prospect of it is a comfort.

* A Mystery revealed in the New Testament era.

* It occurs before the actual “Wrath ” of God.

* It involves the “dead in Christ” as well as “We who are alive, until the coming of the LORD”.

As far as I know, all else can only be speculation. God doesn’t want us to know the exact timing otherwise it would be clearer. I am glad there is a Rapture, and my prayer has always been that I be involved in it, while alive. But I cannot say with certainty what the timing of it is, so I don’t.

What counts is Faith in Jesus. Not dead works, but a living, vital, infectious faith. Let us have a faith which still moves us to confess and forsake our sins, to Love and seek God. To forgive and love our brothers, and a faith which moves us to share with others what God has shown to us. Is your faith alive? Do you have oil in your lamp? Are you current with God?

We Overcome the World by our faith. “This is the victory that overcometh the World…our faith”. We overcome the Spirit of antiChrist also, by our faith. So also we overcome the sins that so easily beset us, and the Coldness and soul deadening effect of this world, by our Faith.

Of course we want out of here, we can increasingly see that there is nothing in this World for we who believe, but rejection and opposition.I want Jesus to come, and Long for the Rapture. I am either going up in it, or I am gong to die, but one way or another we are leaving.

Either way, the point is Faith. So I will leave the timing of the Rapture to God, and just strive to be counted worthy to attain it, whether ded or alive.

Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. (Luke 21:35)

The day of the Lord is the 2nd coming of Christ at Armageddon when He returns and sets up His Millennial Reign. That’s what verses 1,2 3 talk about.

Verse 4 begins with “BUT”. “But he brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.

Verse 5: “YE (the saved believers he is writing to) ARE ALL the children of LIGHT, and the children of the day: WE are not of the night, nor of darkness.”

Also Eph. 5:8. “For YE were sometimes darkness, BUT NOW are ye light IN THE LORD; walk as children of the LIGHT”.

We are not going through the tribulation because that is reserved for the CHILDREN OF DARKNESS (the lost) and we are CHILDREN OF THE LIGHT(saved).

Of course there will be people saved by the 144,000 during the tribulation, but they are in the tribulation BECAUSE they were children of the dark when Christ came for the Church the Body of Christ, to keep us from the WRATH TO COME.

Adam and Eve were willing to entertain a false and degraded notion of God, that He was holding something back that would be good for the first couple. The Serpent bore false witness about the LORD, and they believed it.

Another important reason is that God wants us to totally trust in and rely upon Him not only for our eternal salvation but for every aspect of our lives. Faith is "believing without seeing". Jesus said:

"Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." (John 20:29)

And the Apostle Peter continues:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, reserved in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power for the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in various trials so that the proven character of your faith—more precious than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and rejoice with an inexpressible and glorious joy, now that you are receiving the goal of your faith, the salvation of your souls. (I Peter 1:3-9)

The SO CALLED "Rapture" is one of SATAN's GREATEST DECEPTIONS.

What did Jesus say ?
There are three different Greek words which are used relative to Christ's return to this earth.
They are:

Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21 are the focus of that :Coming" .

But "Rapture" is NOT in the Bible.

Also notice that do not stay "in the clouds", but we stay "with the Lord".
And WHERE is the LORD going ?

SO ... REMEMBER this (excerpt):

I think, caww, you have some misconceptions:

1. We who believe there is only one second coming - not two - are indeed “looking for Jesus’ return to meet him in the air.” We differ only in that this event happens at the end of the tribulation, like Jesus said in Matt. 24:29-31. Not seven years before, at an additional second coming Jesus said nothing about.

2. You frame this issue as if post-trib “folks” would rather “suffer through the tribulation” as you put it, than leave outta here in a pretrib rapture.
It has nothing to do with what any of us want, it has everything to do with what the Bible actually says. There simply is no such thing as two second comings in the Bible.

Ah yes, you're the scoffers we were warned about thousands of years ago:

    2 Peter 3:3-7
Most importantly, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. “Where is the promise of His coming?” they will ask. “Ever since our fathers fell asleep, everything continues as it has from the beginning of creation.” But they deliberately overlook the fact that long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water, through which the world of that time perished in the flood. And by that same word, the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

    Jude 1:18,19
“In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow after their own ungodly desires.” These are the ones who cause divisions, who are worldly and devoid of the Spirit

Preterist foolery. Put John 14 and 1 Thess 4:13-18 together ... and run along to the next gaggle you can deceive.

On your knees, open Bible, in a spirit of prayer. Is there any other way?
................................................
Odd you should say that because most Fundys I’ve known consider kneeling to be a Catholic practice and are therefore opposed to it!

This is what you said:
“The Day of The Lord is something to fear for you unbelievers”

It looked like you had gone off your rocker calling someone who didn’t believe in your two second comings an unbeliever in Christ.

I’m the one that was offended, now you are claiming to be so. At any rate, I’m glad we got this straightened out.

Not that we’re square on this, no more of this calling somebody each other a liar. If you call me that again, I think we’ll have to bring the moderator in on this.

The return of Christ has been debated for ages.....so it should be understand there are differences of opinion on this matter. I wrote of my observation of those debates.

As for what the scriptures reveal I’m settled in my belief based on the biblical scripture entire...and happily looking forward to the next prophetic event when we meet Jesus in the air, just as he said. Frankly I have no desire to ‘prepare’ for the tribuation nor has the Lord indicated I should.

Hello Boatbums...:)

If what some believe, that we will be going through the Tribulation, then I would have to assume they’re all ‘preppers’ as well and have prepared shelters to hide out and large storages of food and medicines to secure their families.

Ok, but, assuming you are not raptured outta here, what is it going to take for you to admit you were wrong? When they are requiring everybody to take the mark?

I would hope that you would not be so adamant that you would reason “this can’t be the mark of the beast because the pretrib rapture was supposed to happen first, and it hasn’t happened yet,” and take it.

Issues like this are no small point, see Rev. 14:9-11.

This is a heresy and when the rapture does not happen people will be scandalized out of their faith. This is terrible and I will pray for those who fall for this error
....................................
Well and truly said and every word of it. Just another of the countless heresies foisted on the gullible by fundamentalist no-nothings!

How do you figure that??? If anything it SPURS believers on to live holy and God-pleasing lives as they see the day approaching - whether or not it happens in their own lifetime. God's word tells us:

And let us consider how to spur one another on to love and good deeds. Let us not neglect meeting together, as some have made a habit, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24,25)

Beloved, do not let this one thing escape your notice: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.

But the Day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and its works will be laid bare.

Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to conduct yourselves in holiness and godliness as you anticipate and hasten the coming of the day of God, when the heavens will be destroyed by fire and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with God’s promise, we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. (II Peter 3:8-13)

So I ask you, how are YOU encouraging other believers to live godly in Christ Jesus? By smugly mocking and disparaging those who DO know what the word says and who joyfully anticipate the coming of the Lord which IS going to happen whether you believe it will or not? I don't know if the Rapture will happen in my lifetime, but I do know that I want to live every day as if it was imminent. Remember that bumper sticker:

JESUS IS COMING BACK - LOOK BUSY!

Perhaps you might want to do some of your own study of the topic rather than writing it off as "just another of the countless heresies foisted on the gullible by fundamentalist no-nothings" because of your own prejudice and gullibility.

Hi! I wonder the same thing. Although this latest virus “shut down” might be a warm up of what is to come, it will be nothing compared to the pouring out of the wrath of God upon the ungodly world system. Persecution, martyrdom, trials and times of testing have been the experiences of Christians from the very start but it came from the world against them - it was aimed at God. The Tribulation will be from Almighty God aimed at the world and it seems highly unlikely He would be including the Body of Christ, His bride in the bunch getting hammered. That’s not to say that those people who turn to Christ during this time won’t be caught up in some of the hell being rained down. We know that there will also be martyrdom for Christ that goes on then but it is coming from the devil raging against God because he knows his time is short.

Kneeling, sitting, standing, running, walking - One can pray. Kneeling is only important in that it conveys humility and reverence.

Those distinctions have much weight....and it appears likely those terrible events will be in part what turn people to God for their salvation at that time....so what purpose would it serve for people who are Christians now to even face or endure that time? The Lord has made it quite clear it’s Christian Jews and his two witnesses who will be doing the work then...and their gatherings together will be forced undergound.

The Bible is clear in telling us that there is no prophecy to be fullfilled for The Departure to arrive. Your assertions are false because of all the prophetic signs which set the point of the end of the great tribulation when the Lord Christ sets foot on the mount of Olives. The wrath ppured out before that Day of The Lord is precisely what God tells us those with God abiding in their spirit will be kept from.

Your assertions encourage watching for antiChrist, not the Great Departure of the Body of Christ.

The time is called 'the Tribulation'. A Tribulum was used to crush the grain from the husks. Since those who have God's Life abiding in their spirit, they are already freed grain. The Tribulum is not need to reveal their grain. Yje harvests of Israel are quite revealing regarding events of the end times.

Barley can be freed from the husks by just waving the sheafs in the air, but wheat is a tougher act which requires crushing the grain from the husks. The Barley harvest came before the wheat harvest.

It appears to this old man that after many run-ins with preterists and post trib folks, they do not believe 1 John 3:9, that it is GOD abiding in the spirit of the born again, and if His Life is in you that part of you is not sinning and cannot sin for His Life abides therein. There is zero reason to drag such a spirit through the crushing and every reason to believe He is coming for THAT to which He will give a new body and behavior mechanism as He takes HIS out from the wrath to come.

Folks read the Revelation and see a white horse traveler coming with a bow in his hand with no arrows and don't know what to make of this arrival of the first horse when perhaps billions will die in his arrival. That many deaths accompanying his arrival sounds like the beginning of tribulation to me. Deny the pre-trib Rapturing away of the Body of Christ results in these waiting for the revealing of the antichrist not waiting for the coming to be gathered up and taken to the Father's House where the Bema Seat of Christ will happen while tribulation is growing worse upon the Earth.
