A church has to be biblically-centered, or it’s just a social club.
Eddie Izzard,a British comedian, did a great piece some years ago about the Church of England's laxity and lack of any firm beliefs. He compared it to the Spanish Inquisition and came up with the cry "Cake or Death". really funny!
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. 2 Tim. 3:1-7
Flip Wilson: “The Church of what’s happening now”
True back in the 60’s, true today.
Flip Wilson...classic! I’ve gotta check that out!
If anyone does not follow Jesus, and His teachings, as demonstrated in the eyewitness accounts in the gospels, passed down to us through the Apostles, believe that he is the perfect sacrifice for our sins, raised from the dead on the Third day, and has ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the power and majesty on high, who is God, the Father. And that he sent the Holy Spirit as a light and a guide for all believers. That the Bible is given to us by God to show us that He is , that he promised a redeemer to fix the relationship we broke, how and through who’s family tree our redeemer would be born to and what he would suffer on our behalf.
If anyone does not believe that Jesus is Lord, that the Bible is the written record of Gods plan for redeeming us, they cannot call themselves Christian.
This goes way back. Ralph Waldo Emerson (May 25, 1803 – April 27, 1882) wrote books dedicated to corrupting The Bible, and how its words should be twisted to advocate the proto-socialist world he wanted.

Hey, long before Emerson, Thomas Jefferson was a proponent of cutting and pasting portions of the Bible to “fit” his personal theological preferences.
Eddie’s ‘Dressed to Kill’ DVD,,,
Disturbingly funny.
Yup,classic. He’s more than a little bit weird...but he’s funny! Have you ever heard his “Star Wars Canteen” skit? Classic!
It’s been going on a long time. In 1937 Richard Niebuhr nailed the liberal gospel as: “A God without wrath brought men without sin into a Kingdom without judgment through the ministrations of a Christ without a cross.” So who needs a Bible after all that?
“There is now little or no difference between the world and some churches.”
There is now little or no difference between the world and ALMOST ALL churches.
The Lord changes NOT! I have heard the Left for years complaining that the Christian church is not 'democratic.' ...correct!
“Our faith should be based firmly on the word of God. A form of Christianity that is not biblical is not true Christianity and should be avoided by anyone who desires to follow Christ.”
Absolutely correct!
Let me know where and when you find this “perfect” church.
The trouble with “organized Religion” is that it is organized.
“... Without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure. If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, then we will be nation gone under.””
Ronald Reagan.
How are we doing?
““The time has come to turn to God and reassert our trust in Him for the healing of America - our country is in need of and ready for a spiritual renewal.”
Ronald Reagan
I didn’t think there would be such a run on cake...
What a ridiculous argument. The only Bible in existence at that time was the Hebrew Bible. There was no "new testament" to be read or studied. All chrstianity was entirely extra-Biblical at that time (as it is, in truth, today).
Not one thing Paul was teaching at that time was to be found in the Hebrew Bible. The only thing they could have studied was the prophecies J*sus allegedly fulfilled.
RE: What a ridiculous argument. The only Bible in existence at that time was the Hebrew Bible
I don’t see how the author’s statement is ridiculous. The Bereans compared Paul’s teachings to the Old Testament teachings about the coming Messiah.
In other words, the Bereans USED the scriptures available to them then to evaluate what Paul taught and for that, they were commended.
Amen!
