30 Catholic Democrats Sign Letter on Dobbs Anniversary Vowing to Support Abortion

Washington, D.C. Newsroom, Jun 27, 2023 / 11:00 am Thirty Catholic Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives signed a letter on the first anniversary of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health decision vowing to continue to support abortion despite the overturn of Roe v. Wade.

The group of Democrats, led by Connecticut Rep. Rosa DeLauro and including former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, cited their Catholic faith and St. John Paul II’s apostolic exhortation Christifideles Laici as reasons to support abortion.

“The fundamental tenets of our Catholic faith — social justice, conscience, and religious freedom — compel us to defend a woman’s right to access abortion,” the letter stated. “Our faith unfailingly promotes the common good, prioritizes the dignity of every human being, and highlights the need to provide a collective safety net to our most vulnerable.”

“We are committed to making real the basic principles at the heart of Catholic social teaching: helping the poor, disadvantaged, and the oppressed; protecting the least among us; and ensuring that all Americans of every faith are given meaningful opportunities to share in the blessings of this great country,” the letter said.

Saturday marked one year since the Supreme Court issued its decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that overturned the nearly 50-year-old Roe v. Wade case. The decision in Dobbs allowed abortion bans and restrictions in multiple states across the country to go into effect.

By overturning Roe v. Wade, the letter said that “the justices stripped women of their right to abortion and escalated an ongoing reproductive health care crisis in this country.”

Being a Democrat means one can easily mold their conscience to accommodate any abomination. Also one wonders why the Pope or American bishops would allow such an abomination to be propagated in the name of Catholicism and not denounce such heresy.

If someone does not stand for something hey will fall for anything.

Being “nice” and “popular” and “trendy” has not brought any honor to Catholic leaders. Or the filled churches they thought it would.

These people don't even speak the same language as normal people.
Get this Pelosi quote:
“Our faith unfailingly promotes the common good, prioritizes the dignity of every human being, and highlights the need to provide a collective safety net to our most vulnerable.”
Abortion is clearly not a safety net for “our most vulnerable”. The complete opposite.

And this Pelosi gem: “the dignity of every human being”. Maybe the witch can explain how killing a baby in its mother's womb jibes with that whopper. The baby brutally murdered inside his mother doesn't find that dignified.

The most vulnerable whose dignity you claim you are prioritizing, are the ones you are slaughtering in the name of *reproductive "freedom"*.

It's clear the moral aspect does not enter it. The one about *Thou shalt not murder*.

No wondering necessary when you consider that the Roman religion allows homosexual priests and protects pedophiles by hiding their actions and moving them around to other parishes to cover up their sin. And can't forget the cocaine fueled orgies the vatican hosts.

And then you wonder why abortion is allowed?????

30 out of billions of Catholics? What a joke.

Considering how most Catholics vote, it's far more than 30.

Besides, it's not *billions* of Catholics. Latest figure I've seen put forth here on FR is 1.2 billion, which is not plural, and likely that is overcounted because I'm sure they never remove people from their membership rolls even when they have converted to Christ and quit attending any catholic so-called *church* years ago. Or just bailed on Catholicism for other reasons and don't even go anywhere.

But according to some, *Once a Catholic, always a Catholic*. So one is still counted whether they like it or not.
