So, he has become a believer. Now if he can only get SD to go along.

See my 2396. Then shut up.

Frankly, too bad. I have no sympathy for them. The time for "feeling their pain" has passed. I have no desire for innocent civilians to suffer. But the alternative is to do nothing, and that is unacceptable.

I really think we are in agreement here. I am firmly for Israel doing what it needs to do.

My objection last week was to parties who, as I said, invoke the Bible as a guide to foreign policy. I am not comfortable saying "Israel has a right to the land cause God gave it to 'em." I may believe it is true, but I don't think that's a valid basis for a foreign policy.

So what, in your opinion, is the catholic equivilant?

Being born again is talked about in the RCC. My point was that the NC churches tend to use the term more. Especially the Suthun Babdiss. ;o)

Ahem. Need I remind you that Cuban is a native Pittsburgher?

He's also Jewish.

She was called "Queen of the Saints" in a recent RC prayer posted. Dave says it means Queen Mother, which seems rather weird because then the Saints would be kings. Of course if she's Queen Mother of Jesus, then why not say Queen Mother of Jesus?
The recently deceased Queen Mum of England was a Queen not just to Elizabeth II, but also to the British people. That is, Mary being Queen is Queen of all in Heaven, not just those Him Who she carried.

Can you understand how confusing this is?? The Queen Mother is called the Queen Mother. Everyone knows she's not really the Queen, but the Queens Mother as the title suggests. But "Queen of all in Heaven" doesn't imply that at all. It implies that she rules all in heaven. Why when this tradition was established didn't they say "Queen Mother of All in Heaven"? I'm kind of stuck on the fact that words transmit ideas here...

For the record I would be much happier with a decimated Church filed with true believers than the current situation with "Catholics for Free Choice" and other heretical nonsense masquerading as true Catholics.

For the record, if you get your wish, be prepared to set up an extra room in your house as a place of worship. No more Cathedrals, no more great works of art, no more glorious statues, no more of the material things you believe you deserve. Of course, this is much closer to the way Jesus dit it anyway.

So's Myron Cope, and he knows a thing or two about football.

It implies that she rules all in heaven.

Does it? Historically, how much power did a queen have while the king lived?

My understanding is that there is a "hierarchy of respect" among the sanctified. Those who have undergone particularly significant events, who have a particularly intimate relationship with God, are worthy of recognition for such. God is the shepherd, we're all just sheep, but compared to the Apostle John or to Mary I'm just a runt and they're prize show sheep. ;)

Who the hell said I thought I deserve these things? Try not to put words in my mouth, eh? For the record, it is to the glory of God that wonderful places for him to inhabit are built. And, yes, even through the arcitecture and art they tell the story of salvation.

But, if it is all lost tomorrow, it would not matter one whit. We'll do it again, even meager means can build masterpieces.

I am sure that living as a Palestinian in one of the "occupied" areas is no picnic. I am sure that there have been incidents where Israeli forces acted with undue force or acted in a manner which could be harrassing.

Am I wrong?

Damn right your wrong, your a Christian and an American ain't ya, if you don't support Gods chosen people 100%, you are a CINO or AINO, let one of those towell heads set off a bomb where you eat and blow up one of your kids, and you'll be singing a different tune. What the hell is the matter with you?

You forget I'm also an Irish Catholic. Does that mean I should send a check to the IRA?

Mack - What does "supporting God's chosen people 100%" mean? Who, according to your understanding, "speaks for Israel"? Don't Peres and Barak have a claim as well? They are elected leaders.

BTW, I am in complete support of the Israel military action against the PA and the terrorist infrastructure. The Palestinian leadership has never been honestly interested in peace with Israel. But let's not get silly and say the Israelis have never done anything wrong. Those "towel heads" include many Christians. It is as much of a mistake to say that all Palestinians support terrorism as to say that all Americans supported Clinton when he was President. I fully realize that the Palestinian Christians are treated poorly by the Palestinian Muslims. But that doesn't excuse the fact that they are also treated poorly by the Israelis as well.

The hell with foreign policy, God is in control not man, you would know this if you ever took God at His WORD and quit putting words in his mouth!

I don't really have a defense of the Palestinians. I am just wary, as I said, of defining the actions of one nation as "God-ordained."

You never wary of defending your religious organization as "God-Ordained". The promises to Israel are without repentance. Go ahead. Expend the energy.

Can you tell me that every action every person acting in the name of Israel has done has been upright? I refuse to look at the situation as black and white. Yes, I defend Israel's right to exist and protect herself. I mostly think the "Palestine" thing is a farce, as the peoples rightly belong in Jordan and other Arab a nations. I just have a problem when people use the Bible as a guide to foreign affairs.

Seems like you have a problem using the Bible in just about every area except for John 6.
