Prayer for Priests

A Prayer for Priests of the Latin Rite

O Jesus, our great High Priest,
hear my humble prayers on behalf of your priests.
Give them a deep faith, a bright and firm hope, and a burning love
which will ever increase in the course of their priestly life.
In their loneliness, comfort them.
In their sorrows, strengthen them.
In their frustrations, point out to them that it is through suffering
that the soul is purified,
and show them that they are needed by the Church
they are needed by souls
they are needed for the work of redemption. Amen.

O Loving Mother Mary, Mother of Priests,
take to your heart your sons who are close to you
because of their priestly ordination
and because fo the power which they have received
to carry on the work of Christ
in a world which needs them so much.
Be their comfort, be their joy, be their strength,
and especially help them to live and to defend
the ideals of consecrated celibacy. Amen.

I still lurk occasionally. Would have liked to see you all in New Orleans, but it was, alas, not to be. I am reading Heliotropium now, and and it resonates with my beloved priests' latest advice: The Lord loves His Church a lot more than you or I, and whatever He permits will be for Our good. We must fight the good fight, but we must not argue with the Lord about what He permits and why.

Benedicamus Domino!

Most excellent advice. Thank you for sharing it.

Dear Lord, please give His Holiness the strength to do what is necessary to protect our innocent children.
Amen.

Angelique, what a very beautiful prayer. I am adding it to my file of prayers, and I will join you in praying that prayer daily. God bless!

I'm printing that out and putting it on top of my computer. Thank you very much.

We can also offer prayers for the Pope and for the cardinals that they will make the right decisions to address the problems currently afflicting the church. A return to prayer, to orthodoxy, and traditional Catholic values is what is needed.

Truly actions of Christian heroism. I hope the media will pick up the focus on this most important work. God Bless.

I have been praying for our priests since this great scandal has rocked our church. I pray for the innocent priests who are being looked upon with suspicion when they have done nothing wrong. I pray for our Pope and cardinals, that they will make decisions that will purge our Church of the evil that has entered it. I pray that this purging will leave us with a stronger, more traditional church. I have been praying for all the innocent young people who have been victimized by those who, of all people, they should have been able to trust. Finally, I pray that those priests who have hurt those young people will beg God's forgiveness. For, if not, they have a place waiting for them in the hottest recesses of hell. They know what sin they have committed, and they know how Jesus warned about any who would harm one hair on the head of one of His little ones. They should be living in great fear of Our Lord's wrath.

St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Prayers

For Priests

Almighty God, look upon the face of Him who is the eternal High Priest, and have compassion on Your priests in today's world. Remember that they are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation. Keep them close to You lest the enemy prevail against them, so that they may never do anything in the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime vocation.

O Jesus, I pray for Your faithful and fervent priests, for the unfaithful and tepid ones; for those laboring at home and abroad in distant mission fields; for those who are tempted; for those who are lonely and desolate; for those who are in purgatory.

But, above all, I recommend to You the priests dearest to me; the priest who baptized me; the priests who absolved me from my sins; the priests who instructed me or helped me by their encouragement. I pray devoutly for all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way, in particular for . . . O Jesus, keep them all close to Your heart and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen.

O Mary, Queen of the clergy, pray for us; obtain for us a number of holy priests. Amen.

O Almighty Eternal God, look upon the face of Thy Christ, and for love of Him who is the eternal High-priest, have pity on Thy priests. Remember, O most compassionate God, that they are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation which is in them by the imposition of the Bishop's hands. Keep them close to Thee, lest the enemy prevail against them, so that they may ever do anything in the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime vocation.

O Jesus, I pray Thee for Thy faithful and fervent priests;
for Thy unfaithful and tepid priests;
for Thy priests laboring at home or abroad in distant mission fields;
for Thy tempted priests;
for Thy lonely and desolate priests;
for Thy young priests;
for Thy aged priests;
for Thy sick priests;
for Thy dying priests;
for the souls of Thy priests in purgatory.

But above all, I commend to Thee the priests dearest to me:
the priests who baptized me;
the priests who absolved me from my sins;
the priests at whose Masses I assisted and who gave me Thy Body and Blood in Holy Communion;
the priests who taught and instructed me or helped me and encouraged me;
all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way, particularly _________ .

O Jesus, keep them all close to Thy heart, and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity.
Amen.

n the Name of the Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we beseech Thee, O Christ, Eternal High Priest, that Thou keep hidden within the Wound in Thy Heart Thy priests whom Thou has ordained to Thy Eternal Priesthood.

Preserve them, protect them as the dispensers of the mysteries of God and keep them faithful in their mission as Thy expiatory victims for the sins of men. Together with Thee, O Christ, are they continually offered on Thy Altar on High in the sight of the Father, a propitiation of love rising as incense from men to God. Ever increase in Thy faithful priest-victims Thy power to draw all hearts into Thy Own that Thou mayest perfect Thy work of grace among the sons of God, whose inheritance is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Have pity, O Christ, on those of Thy privileged ones who have strayed from Thy Heart and torn open the Wound in Thy Side by their infidelity to Thee. Release upon them the torrents of Thy love and compassions, drowning their souls in Thy ocean of mercy that they may not escape. Draw them back into the fullness of the Life and the Light that is of God.

Amen.
