Dear Oxford: I am so sorry that your precious child has died. I feel special empathy for you because I also have a son named 'Michael'. The loss of a child is the most painful experience one can endure.

When you feel able please seek the help of 'Compassionate Friends'...a support group for those who have lost a child. Talking with others who have suffered the same pain can be very helpful in the grieving process.

May you be comforted by the love of God & your family. Prayers are offered for you & your wife.

I know what you are going through..the loss of a child, unexplained like that, at such an early age is always something we are never able to understand...regardless of how many years may pass....my prayers go out to you and your family. Always remember this wee one is resting now in the arms of the Lord and other loving family members, pets. We here still have much too do before joining love ones. It is we who are lonely for we can not see them, but they are always with us, and want us as soon as time permits, to move on in our world completing our mission, so someday we will all reunite.

It's fruitless to try to rank life's hurts, but losing a child is the toughest thing I have ever experienced. She was not my daughter, rather my niece who was killed in an ATV accident when she was 9. My sisters third child after two sons and just the sweetest little girl in the world.

It made no sense then and it makes no sense now. But God used that awful thing to draw our family closer.

I pray that the good Lord's healing mercy will be very real for you in the coming difficult days ahead.

May Michael's memory be eternal.

Our prayers are with you Oxford. It is always difficult to understand when things like this happen. I have lost loved ones before but never a child. My mother lost my brother, so she can probably understand more than me what you are going through. Just know that the Lord does see what you are going through and that the love of many is with you. My heart is aching for you and your wife. There can be nothing harder than losing a child. I know you would have given up yours to save his.

As a nurse who works in a NICU, I've been with parents who have had to endure this horrific pain. I know there is nothing I can possibly say that can make you feel any better.

I believe that sometimes God sends his most precious angels to live among us, but they can only stay for a shot while. We are all blessed by their presence when they are with us, and though it grieves our hearts to give them up, we must know that they will always watch over us and send us God's love.

I know, because I've had the honor of serving God by taking care of these precious angels. Some looked perfect, but were either too premature or had some internal defect that precluded them living very long. Others, though their bodies may have been "imperfect" were the sweetest and most beautiful of souls.
