Here's an Orthodox bump for you Romulus.

Y'all have a huge job of work. For some reason the task of cleaning the Agean stables comes to mind.

Mrs. don-o, the RC in the family, wrote a fine letter on the subject that was faxed to the Bishops.

I thank God for waking me up in time.

I believe that the Holy Spirit is working overtime. I have always considered myself conservative and religious, even though I didn't go to church. I obeyed most (not all) of the teachings of the church. But I was missing something in my life. There was a void, an emptyness. When I was pregnant with my third child, I started going back to church every Sunday. The void was filled, and I felt that God had touched me. I went to confession for the first time since I received Holy Communion when I was seven. I went during Advent, and again during Lent, but obviously the first one was the hardest because I had a lot of sins to ask forgiveness for.

I can honestly say that I left church that November feeling like a weight I didn't know was on my heart had been lifted. I look forward to Mass every week, and by Friday I feel like I really need it. Mass is an hour, but I always wish it were longer.

I don't think any of us know our faith as well as we should. I have not read every book in the bible, though I intend to. I've read most of the NT and parts of the OT. It's exciting going to Mass and listening to the readings and saying to myself, hey, I read that the other week!

I really, really believe that the Holy Spirit is rallying the faithful back to the faith, bringing everyone He cans for what purpose He has that we do not know. Perhaps it is to strengthen the church during this crisis, perhaps it is for something else, but whatever it is, I hope to grow in my faith and love of the Lord each and every day of my life.

God bless.

Wow, reading your post makes me realize I have a great parish. I never realized how bad it was getting. I thought our parish was a little modern, because it looked modern, but we have regular Eucharistic Adorations, everyone does a deep bow when approaching the altar, and almost everyone genuflects. The person putting the consecrated communion bread back into the tabernacle genuflects before closing it, and no one gets up from kneeling until it is closed.

Topeka Kansas, Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas. Archbishop James Keleher.

(I was raised in Rochester New York and Moved to Kansas in 1980. I'm glad to be 1200 miles away from Rochester's Bishop Matthew Clark. That Diocese was much better off when Fulton J. Sheen was the Bishop there.)

What is your bishop like? I'm just wondering because our bishop said he was a very caring and wonderful person and it can't hurt to compare notes.

A church close by to the one I attend outgrew their church building and had to build a larger one. The pastor wanted to place the tabernacle behind the altar, but the Diocese of Phoenix wouldn't allow it, so he placed it to the side of the altar in an enormous ornate alcove, so prominent that your eye is drawn to it the moment you enter the church. Clever guy.
