No problem knowing the tune but as a SB he better not dance or raise his hands higher than his wallet!

LOL....I have attended a SB church where they do raise their hands in worship (as I like to at times)..recently I was talking to the couples starting the Reform Baptist church...they said there were "rumors" that the other Baptist church was" Charasmatic"..LOL....

At their service Sunday as we sang "on Christ the solid Rock I stand" I wanted to stand up and rasie a hand to the Lord ...but I behaved like a Baptist...LOL...I stayed put......

No cards involved. 42 is a domino game, played with a double-six set of the bones. It is a Texas game, and a required skill-set for anyone desiring to pastor a Texas Baptist church.

Just shows how in touch the SB is from their non-Denom brethren. As a resident of big "D" for 15 years we never played 42.

I am relieved you don't shuffle them demon cards! Or do the Texas two step in those white shoes.

"behaved like a Baptist"

Just reflecting on that phrase and biting my tongue!

White shoes? Not since about 1971.

Is Dallas really a part of Texas. Reminds me of the stories they tell about Amon Carter, the publisher of the Ft. Worth Star Telegram. Whenever he had to go to Dallas he would pack a sack lunch, so as to avoid spending a dime in that "Damned" town.

"Dallas is a nice place to live but you wouldn't want to visit there." -- Skip Bayless

I've always said moving from Dallas to Fort Cow-Town (Fort Worth) would lower your blood pressure 20 point. Big D is a driven, success fixated city. Businessmen [bid-ness-men]have their left coat sleeves shortened to better display their rolex watches!

And, what if I told you that I agree with this? All those who believe will be saved. That is why we preach the Gospel to all, all around the globe. There is only one SBC. Do you think that we Calvinists pick-and-choose who to witness to?

I know that your intention is to be honorable when you say that you witness to everyone. I think, though, that you missed my point. My point is that, even though you might witness to everyone, at some point you're going to have to level with the folks in your church. You're going to have to say what "limited atonement" means. It means that the gospel isn't for everyone. DrSteve understands this, because if I remember correctly, that is his point of disagreement with you. Isn't that correct.

I wasn't talking about your credentials. I was talking about your saying that I had no idea what goes on in the SBC. As I read your background and consider my own, I can only say that I was raised in the church. I attended the Sunday Schools. I attended the vacation bible schools. I attended Training Union.

You are both a maverick Christian and Southern Baptist. You have a responsibility within the SBC that is significant. You pastor, you participate, you work. Your knowledge of the SBC far exceeds my own experience of roughly 18 years.

I, too, am a maverick Christian. I literally had the Lord knock on my door at 2 am in Germany in October 1972. I was nurtured then by the Army Chapel program and consider that my home church, if the truth be known. (Coincidentally, my first chaplain was a southern baptist, Ch Steve Gantt, perhaps you know him.)

When looking for a home church after getting out of service to attend college in 1974, I looked for something most similar to the chapel program. I found it in an EUB (recently UMC) church in Mt Healthy, Ohio.

I've always clung to the "UB" part of the EUB/UMC roots....Mennonite/anabaptist.

It's would be incorrect to say I have no knowledge of the SBC. It would be correct to say my knowledge is limited.

see my #70.

Were I to characterize the two churches, this is how I'd do it.

I'd take you to the 2nd chapter of Revelation. I'd say, "My UMC is most like the Church of Thyatira." I'd say, "The SBC (imho) is most like the Church of Ephesus."

But I would be speaking honestly, and I'd need a respondent who cared.

In those particular passages, does God call the members of either of those churches in Revelation to DESERT their church as the only solution?

I do not doubt your salvation xzins ..never have.....I just find it incredible you choke on the words that say God chose you........it had to be because you were a piece of slime..unable and unwilling on your own to seek him....He had to knock on your door ..so you could say yes Lord!

We have an awesome God xzins...who can understand His ways? But I have yet to meet a saved man that was out looking for Him....

Everyone has a story of the grace of God finding them (Holy "coincidences").....that is not prevenient that is sovereign grace.....

Rn, if you really want to see the most honest site in all of methodism, go here to the Unofficial UMC Confessing Movement web page UcmPage.org, click

You'll see more than warts there. You'll see lesions, gaping wounds, and the truly putrid.

But you'll also see those fighting it.

I specifically remember repenting and saying "yes." No lie.

Jesus said, whatsoever you permit on earth, I will permit in heaven. That by itself shows that he gave the church the right to develop more commandments or drop some of the existing ones? If that is the case, I would imagine the only reason we still have resemblance of Christianity is because the Church's leaders are mostly godly people, and always take conservative approach to making new laws?

You know what xzins so did I .....no one has ever said that we are not expected to make a choice..

The difference is His grace moved our heart from desiring to be god to desiring to belong to God..

Gods grace frees us to desire Him above all things.....

Honest... I never considered saying no......I just wanted Him so bad I can not imagine saying no

I once described it as like breathing....natural to want to be His.....natural to say here I am Lord...

You may have thought of saying no , but I will bet you never seriously considered saying NO....you just wanted to be in His presence....

" You're going to have to say what "limited atonement" means."

I have no difficulty in doing so, AND presenting the free-offer of the Gospel. I know that those covered by the limited atonement are those who believe the Gospel. All those who don't believe the Gospel have far greater problems than an understanding of the scope of the atonement.

I do not read the scripture the way you do..I think that is talking about the need to forgive others.....can make new laws to pile ontop of the ones he has given?

Well scripture say not one dot or tittle of the law will pass away.....and Jesus called the men that made their own laws on top of Gods vipers.

You are correct. What that proves is there are a lot of inconsistancies in the all religious books?
