Washington did not attend communion. However, depending upon his motives, this does not make him un-Christian.

Scholars recently located his prayer journal. This prayer journal is EMPHATICALLY Christian and NOT IN THE SLIGHTEST Deist.

The article mentions that. Says he did initially, but then changed. Nellie writes: I have heard her say that General Washington always received the sacrament with my grandmother before the revolution

We can only speculate what it was about the revolution that led Washington to stop receiving communion. Perhaps because of lives taken and an erroneous understanding of theology about communion? That's sheer speculation on my part.
