A Fun Fact:
Decimate originally referred to the killing of every tenth person, a punishment used in the Roman army for mutinous legions.
(Don't see any Calvinists here jumpin ship, but the Arminians seem hard to find!)
-- drj, the amiable Amyraldian who gets along great with TULIP people!

J, I seem to get along with you and Rn pretty well...let me see frumanchu, irish tenor, also.
But I'm never allowed to forget whose side you're on.
Can we go to some political thread some day where we can be on the same side on something? You all are always so guarded that you can't share your thoughts. 'Tis a shame 'cause I think all of those on these threads are really smart people.
What do we have in common: politics, social concerns, what? How do you feel about AIDS in Africa, for instance? Global warming?

Tommorrow evening, July 24th, will mark the 30th anniversary of my conversion.
Happy anniversary, Pastor. And as many more returns of the day.
30 down, 9970 to go and you'll still have no less days to sing God's praise than when you first begun. And thanks for the timely scripture posts. You're more diligent than many of us in letting God's Word speak for itself. As always, it's a Christian's best armor and, when properly applied, so much more effective than our own words.
To: xzins
Pray about your salvation..ask God why you did not say no that day..what was different...you do need to Give God His Glory...
Then we can talk politics
To: xzins
Politically, my views are very close to those of David Limbaugh. Social concerns are pro-life issues and family disintegration problems. Aids in Africa is horrific and likely unsolveable -- have a couple of missionary friends there who deal with the issues daily. Global warming is most noticeable in the summer round here.

...we have a system [Calvinism] that thinks God fatalistically preselected some for heaven and some for hell prior to their ever being born.
You still insist on misunderstanding. All are damned without God's intervention. This is the meaning of depravity.
The natural destiny of mankind since the Fall is Hell. Yes, that means your carcass goes into the flames too if you do not belong to Christ.
The only thing that will save us from hell is the action of God Himself.
Your depiction of Calvinist doctrine has become more than a little silly. At least read what we and other Calvinists have written. It's very plain.
Now, do you agree that the eternal destiny of all mankind since the Fall is hell unless they become children of God through Christ? Yes or No?

Rn, you don't understand. I've proved it to my own satisfaction. The personal attack flogging doesn't matter anymore. I'm sure I'm right. As soon as I watched the "L" and the "I" fall (especially the "I"), I knew that the "U" simply couldn't be possible.
I don't have any further questions on the subject. The pieces of the puzzle fell into place for me.

...yet after being exposed to Calvinist influences, they decide that what those people who preached them into heaven were preaching was a false gospel.
RED ALERT!

Yes
I should have pinged you to 166. Sorry.

Bet you didn't know that Calvin himself was sorta squishy on limited atonement.
Yes, we did. We've posted on it and discussed it in detail.
Are you under the impression that Calvin is our pope?
To: xzins
I am not question your salvation I am questioning your ego and your need to take what is Gods for yourself..
Explain to me how it is that Jesus paid the price for the sins of everyone , all, the entire world...and yet those folks are burning in hell
Was His grace not sufficent? Did he lie when He said "It is finished"? Is God a liar that he promised it was payment in full...but still makes the man pay again himself
OR are all men everywhere saved?
To: George W. Bush
Serious question...are you also zadok; reason you answered the question???
I just don't have any questions anymore, GW. When the "I" fell, it was obvious that the "U" was untenable.
What do you know of the new RLC forum? Who's the RLC?

None of those questions matter to me anymore, Rn. I'll give some struggling arminian a clue from now on, but having the "L" and the "I" fall clinched it for me.
My cousin's friend is awaiting a liver transplant. What are the chances?

If all you are going to do is slander Calvinism and refuse to defend what
YOU say is the truth you need to get off the religious threads.
Go paint your living room

Not mine .......But I did google it:>)

***When the "I" fell, it was obvious that the "U" was untenable.***
How are you on the "P"? Can you will your way out of eternal life or does God, once you select him, chain your free will? Do you have assurrance that you will spend eternity with God?
To: drstevej
He does not need to worry about P ..see he is god
To: Mark17
by saving faith in Jesus Christ, not by baptism, good works and church membership. Act as if you had faith, and you will have faith. We are not spirits encased in bodies, but body and soul: one without the other is incomplete. Will and intellect are not masters of our bodies any more than they are its mere servants. Inevitably it has the last word. Faith does not save us from pain and ill-heath and of dying and separation from our bodies. We will never be entirely healed until the Resurrection makes us whole again.
