It a beautiful ball park from what I've seen on TV.

If he doesn't want to be in Pittsburgh, he should sell the team. There should be someone in Pittsburgh that could make that franchise work.

Sports talk got in the way again.

These have been good threads though.

You know, now that Calvin has established the authority of Scripture, these next chapters and books ought to get into the really good stuff.

Bet you get quite a bit more discussion, enough that the thread posting may have to slow down somewhat to accomodate all of the "commentary".

He actually wants to move the team to Sacramento, and we all know it. If they reaaallly suck, he thinks that we'd be happy to let him out of the lease.

We can't support MLB any more. Our population has dropped by 50% and taxes have increased by about as much, Socialism lives here, but not much else.

You're a yinzer? We should have given up on baseball long ago. If we're gonna build stadia, we should build one for the Penguins. They happen to be the lst team in this town to actually win anything.

(I'm not saying that taxpayers should build stadia, just that it will happen.)

"Hey! As a courtesy I have not mentioned the name Michael Servetus, please refrain from mentioning THAT name again. ;^) "

We're not scared of the Servetus issue -as long as the facts are accurate!

The Burning of Michael Servetus by Emanuel Stickelberger.

The popular account is typically featured on "I hate John Calvin" web-sites and the like and tends to be quite biased. On the otherhand, Stickelberger, who has researched original sources in the Geneva historical archives comes to quite a different account.

There are some anti-Calvinists who do treat the issue more honestly, though. From a universalist web-site and a, likewise, universalist author see: The Trial and Execution of Michael Servetus at Geneva 1553 by Earl Morse Wilbur

I'd recommend reading both these fine accounts and be prepared for some fun if this issue arises in your class.

I predict that when Ch. XI comes up, this thread will be banned by the RC entourage.

Buffalo is 1/3 what it was in the 60's...I fear the loss of the Sabers with the adelphia thing....Socialism lives here too..that is why the city died..

I'd stick him with the lease. Make him sell.

If he wanted to move, he shouldn't have accepted the ballpark.

This is a historical document..I believe that if it is banned it will not be because of Calvins words..

So i take it you got the joke on the tag line? The peoples' republic of Murphysgrad still goes on. Fortunately, i live in one of the "liberated" counties, and i have never seriously uttered the "word" yun'z in my life!!!!! it sounds as if someone is speaking in tongues! Btw, check out the tag line now.

Tell you what mom, i actually fear what might happen in the "rust belt" if those old "mill hunkys" (SD knows to what i refer) decide that they have put up with enough BS. We're talking Louis XVI stuff here.

Did you know that Allegheny County (Metro Pittsburgh) is the second highest taxed county in the entire country?

No I did not know that..

One of the strange things about Buffalo is we are home to many many colleges..we educate our kids and off they go..the parents are mostly people that were once the heart of industry..now they are on welfare or retired with "industry" private pensions now being distributed by the feds because of the planned deindustrialization of America..

These people have no clue that the Democrats they elect are busy lining their pockets and the pockets of those that put them in power..too busy to actually develop a plan to save something here..

But DK we are simply the first part of America to feel this as the WTO continues to move work out of this country they will all feel it..there will be no place to run and hide..

You'd have to be insane to live in Allegheny county. And then they started that re-assessment deal.

They can't build McMansions out here fast enough for the fleeing folks. There must be entire towns empty, cause everyone seems to be out here, clogging up Route 30 every weekend.
