But they say that it is insulting to subject the Spirit, to whom all things are to be subject, to the Scripture: as if it were disgraceful to the Holy Spirit to maintain a perfect resemblance throughout, and be in all respects without variation consistent with himself. Why can't people just "read the operator's manual"? It would make life so much easier.

This is where I believe that the 'charismatics' are going wrong; they are so anxious for a 'spiritual' experience that they "don't look a gift spirit in the mouth" so to speak.
